Abstract:
Based on the panel data of 16 cities in Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-city Economic Circle from 2011 to 2018, and the time-distance spatial weight matrix, this paper constructs a model with economic growth, urbanization level, foreign direct investment intensity, human capital and financial development as control variables, and empirically analyzes the spatial spillover effect of technological innovation driving industrial structure upgrading in Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-city Economic Circle. The results show that the scientific and technological innovation and the industrial structure upgrading of each city in Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-city Economic Circle has a significant positive spatial correlation; science and technology innovation has a significant positive effect on upgrading the industrial structure of this city; the technological innovation of each city has a negative spatial spillover effect on the industrial structure upgrading of the neighboring city. With the research results, this paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to enhance the spatial spillover effect of scientific and technological innovation.
