We study estimation of the date of change in persistence, from I(0) to I(1) or vice versa. Contrary to statements in the original papers, our analytical results establish that the ratio-based break point estimators of Kim [Kim, J.Y., 2000. Detection of change in persistence of a linear time series. Journal of Econometrics 95, 97–116], Kim et al. [Kim, J.Y., Belaire-Franch, J., Badillo Amador, R., 2002. Corringendum to “Detection of change in persistence of a linear time series”. Journal of Econometrics 109, 389–392] and Busetti and Taylor [Busetti, F., Taylor, A.M.R., 2004. Tests of stationarity against a change in persistence. Journal of Econometrics 123, 33–66] are inconsistent when a mean (or other deterministic component) is estimated for the process. In such cases, the estimators converge to random variables with upper bound given by the true break date when persistence changes from I(0) to I(1). A Monte Carlo study confirms the large sample downward bias and also finds substantial biases in moderate sized samples, partly due to properties at the end points of the search interval. 相似文献

In Portugal the EEC membership represented a major change in Portuguese Administration functioning. This article uses the new institutionalism approach and the concept of path-dependence to analyse the change in the functioning of a central directorate reponsible for industrial policy. It argues that despite the external pressures for change has altered the directorate operations, there are patterns of continuity which are path-dependent. The response to change shows institutional reproduction in traditional features which is partly due to the reluctance to change traditional methods and partly because of the routines, procedures and norms embedded in the culture. 相似文献

Marketing the intangible is generally perceived to be a difficult and expensive undertaking. The new BMW and the hamburger, or alternatively, the aerobics session and infant immunisations all result in an end product; albeit in the case of the hamburger and the aerobics session, the product may be shortlived! But what about the product which cannot be seen, tasted, felt or physically taken away? What if the product is simply a change in behaviour? What if it is necessary to convince people of the worth of an idea before even hoping to change behaviour? The same rules for marketing the intangible apply to marketing the tangible, that is, the rules of identifying the target market and its current beliefs and actions, establishing a proposition and its supports, and finally, establishing the desired beliefs and action. This paper, through the analysis of a case study, explores the process by which a multi-award winning adult community awareness campaign was initiated, developed and implemented.
