“中国金融业全面开放与金融稳定”学术研究讨会已经落下帷幕。这次会议是广东金融学院“升本后”举办的规模较大，档次较高的学术盛会。这次会议的成功召开，归功于学院领导的直接指导，归功于全院师生群策群力，归功于相关部门不遗余力的配合。     

中国工商银行2007年IBM虚拟化技术研讨会召开

在国内金融业纷纷完成数据集中和应用整合之后，我国金融业信息化正在经历从以建设为重点向以生产系统稳定运行、简化IT架构并重的格局转变。为适应国内金融市场对外资金融机构全面开放的挑战，保持并进一步提升中国工商银行的科技领先优势，中国金融电脑杂志社于2007年6月19日～20日在杭州召开“中围工商银行2007年IBM虚拟化技术研讨会”。     

人民币汇率制度的选择

我国加入WTO,金融业全面开放,直接面临的一个问题就是资本项目下货币自由兑换。国内一些学者在接受克鲁格曼三元悖论的前提下,主张为维持货币政策的独立性,人民币应该选择浮动汇率制。本文认为为保持货币政策的独立性而选择浮动汇率制不妥,主张我国至少在未来3-5年内保持人民币汇率的稳定。

加入WTO后我国金融监管面临的挑战与应对的策略

加入世界贸易组织，能够给金融业带来什么变化呢？就实质而言，就是我们的金融市场将更大程度的开放，中国金融业将全面进入竞争时代。因此，研究开放条件下的金融监管，保持我国金融市场的稳定，促进金融业健康有序发展，就成为中央银行面临的一个重要而崭新的课题。笔者根据金融监管工作目前的现状，对入世后中央银行的金融监管工作提出一些个人观点。     

Accounting for Forward Rates in Markets for Foreign Currency

Forward and spot exchange rates between major currencies imply large standard deviations of both predictable returns from currency speculation and of the equilibrium price measure (the intertemporal marginal rate of substitution). Representative agent theory with time-additive preferences cannot account for either of these properties. We show that the theory does considerably better along these dimensions when the representative agent's preferences exhibit habit persistence, but that the theory fails to reproduce some of the other properties of the data—in particular, the strong autocorrelation of forward premiums.

Research in accounting for income taxes

This paper comprehensively reviews the Accounting for Income Taxes (AFIT) literature. We begin by identifying four distinctive aspects of AFIT and briefly covering the rules surrounding AFIT. We then review the existing studies in detail and offer suggestions for future research. We emphasize the research questions that have been addressed (most of which relate to whether the tax accounts are used to manage earnings and whether the tax accounts are priced by equity market participants). We also highlight areas that have not received much research attention and that warrant future analysis.

The Case for Simplicity in Accounting

The past fifty years have seen a surge of accounting novelties without parallel in its prior history. Yet countless tradespeople and firms have survived and prospered under the guidance of persons of modest education and a measure of commonsense, while many 'high-fliers' around the world have crashed spectacularly to the dismay of those who trusted in their acumen. One reason for this conjunction seems to be the reliance of segments of the financial community on apparently sophisticated but quite naive innovations in accounting practice. It suggests reform of accounting ideas and practices by recourse to the essential simplicity of commercial intercourse.     

Demand for money in open economies

The demand for real cash balances deduced from an underlying portfolio model of the financial market is shown to depend upon domestic variables and foreign monetary developments. The model is estimated using quarterly postwar data for Canada, Germany, UK and US. There is clear evidence that demand for money is affected not only by changes in domestic variables such as permanent income, domestic interest rate and price expectations but also by fluctuations in exchange rate expectations and foreign interest rates. The conclusion, that domestic monetary policy is fairly ineffective and domestic financial markets are highly vulnerable to changes in foreign financial and monetary developments need to be modified in light of the results presented in this paper.
