It’s drawing to the end of the year, the year when China celebrates its 5th anniversary since its accession to WTO on Dec.11th, 2001, the moment when the president of the Forth Ministerial Meeting of the World Trade Organization rapped on the table in the conference hall of Sharaton Hotel, DOHA to announce that historical decision. China’s accession to WTO, referring to its textile industry, indeed brought about a global concern that fermented & sprouted out a “bra war”, mushrooming…     

China- Seven Years after Access into WTO

The Access into WTO is a milestone in China’s process of reform and opening- up. In 2001, China fi nally became a WTO member after years of negotiation to overcome the hardship in the way. Seven years passed, and China’s economy, in particular, its foreign trade has greatly evolved. Mr. Mike Moore- the No. 1 witness of China’s entry into WTO, came to Hangzhou on the invitation of the 15th Annual Global Finance Conference, and accepted our exclusive interview:     

Scanning the Year’s Half:Hotspot Issues

The textile industry is growing at a slow speed against backdrop of outrageous rise in raw materials, energy, wages, yuan’s appreciation etc.. Three hot issues are more obviously brought into spotlight to be seen as most important factors that weigh a lot on the economic growth during the first half of the year and defi nitely the second half to come.A half of 2008 has elapsed, and the fore part of the year is mingled with hopes and worries, but the industry has managed to voyage on in the troubled waters. The Decision on Major Issues Concerning Comprehensively Deepening Reforms（hereinafter referred to as ＂the Decision＂） adopted by the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee provides a comprehensive roadmap for reform in the oil and gas sector. The essence of the reform lies in solving the productivity problem when there isn＇t sufficient organization and management in the form of institutional mechanisms and development of productive forces to be conducive to reform, and in laying a solid foundation for the healthy development of the oil and gas industry.     

Anti-dumping Investigation Puts Pressure on China

The anti-dumping case began one year ago. In May of last year, the India government launched anti-dumping in- vestigations on silk fabrics of 20 -100 gms/meter made in China. The period of investigation was from 1st April 2003 to 30th September 2004. The case involves about 100 Chinese enterprises with prod- uct value of 180 million USD, which has been the biggest anti-dumping case that India launched against China in recent years. National clothing retail sales growth rebounded sharply

According to the data released by National Bureau of Statistics of China,in August 2014,consumer price for clothes went up by 2.8 percent.And according to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center,in August,2014,Prices for clothes in national key large-scale retail enterprises increased by 11.5％ year on year. According to the statistics of China National Commercial Information Center,in August,2014,clothing retail sales value of national key large-scale retail enterprises increased by 9.4％ year on year.The growth rate is now at the highest level since the begain of this year.National clothing retail sales volume fell 1.9％ year on year.     

CNCRC purchased 6.1832 million tons of cotton

Impact of the Ukrainian and Central Asia oil and crisis on China, Russia gas cooperation

As the Ukrainian crisis continues simmering, Russia, the United States, Europe and other Western countries remain locked in a fierce rivalry, dramatically changing Eurasian geopolitics and the global energy map. A series of great game chain reactions caused by the crisis in the Ukraine have had a definite impact on Russia, China and Central Asian country energy cooperation. In response to the offensive on the Western front Russia is, on the one hand, speeding up the pace of its ＂Look East＂ strategy, achieving a major breakthrough in Sino-Russian gas cooperation. But there should be a clear understanding that Russia won＇t put all its hopes and interests into a single country, that is ＂Look East＂ does not mean ＂China-Centric＂. On the other hand, Russia is using its traditional political and regional advantages to quietly infiltrate Central Asian countries＇ energy, financial, machinery manufacturing, military and other industries, to enhance its influence on the five Central Asian countries＇ economies, in order to preempt the European energy strategy in Central Asia. Europe＇s and Russia＇s intense great- game rivalry over Asia, as an alternative supplier （Central Asia） or as an alternative customer （China）, has squeezed China＇s strategic space. But as the centrifugal force between Central Asian countries and Russia strengthens, and they firmly pursue primarily balanced diplomatic and energy-cooperation strategies, China must become an important pole in those strategies. China should re-assess the strategic position of Central Asia--Russia and increasing investment in resources; the overall weight to give Central Asia and Russia-China energy strategy, while at the same time taking into account the rest of the Asia-Pacific consumer area; and how close attention to pay to the state of Central Asia--Russia po
