One of the most fruitful approaches for increasing marketing productivity is through more efficient manpower planning. This is particularly true in the labor intensive sectors of marketing such as retailing, particularly the retail department store. Waiting line models offer a high degree of potential for more effective manpower planning in the retail department store. The department store, however, presents a particular set of problems which make applications of waiting line models to manpower planning fairly complex. This complexity stems from two major sources: 1) consumer shopping behavior and 2) sales personnel management practices. This article discusses these problems and presents a model by which they can be handled for retail department stores. A detailed example illustrating the model's application is also provided.  相似文献

中国零售业是被社会商业颠覆的。当今规模化经营的连锁企业大部分是从名不见经传的小企业或跨业经营发展而来的,很多源于上世纪80年代以后诞生的小型的“社会商业”。如今,线下零售则被称为传统零售,受到线上零售的挑战,线上线下的冲突与融合正在改变着我国零售业的竞争格局。本文认为,应该从顾客感受的角度去寻找突破口,以实现两者的有效融合,便利店是一个很好的融合点。  相似文献

每一次零售业态变革基本上都与技术、偏好或行为有关:科学技术在零售领域的应用提高了零售服务水平并且降低了零售服务的成本,不同偏好的消费者选择使得不同零售业态的生存获得相应的市场空间,零售商的进入与退出行为的选择导致了特定市场空间中主导零售业态的形成。本文通过对零售业“Big Middle”的形成机理进行经济学分析,并且依据中国零售业态发展的实践进行了相应的实证检验,从而为信息化和网络化条件下零售业的发展提供一定的理论指导。  相似文献

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate three variables utilized frequently within the retail grocery industry to gain a differential advantage within a target market. These variables are Trading Stamps, Credit, and Delivery. Essentially, the study seeks to determine whether these differential variables are related to retail strategy and retail store profitability for a selected group of retail grocery stores belonging to a retailer cooperative. 本文从电商发展等行业热点问题出发,通过考察上海城市超市(CITY SHOP),导出了我国零售的"新生态"与"恒生态"问题。本文认为,我国零售业面临的最根本问题是:在创建零售"新生态"过程中,很多商家忘记了"恒生态",忘记了零售经营的成功关键是要给消费一个理由,城市超市从小店铺发展成为"自造型、差异化、跨业经营"的零售典范,贵在培育了"新生态"背后的"恒生态",即商业伦理底线、一线专业人才培养、零售营运管理、体系保障等四大支撑力。  相似文献

Research interest on ethics has increased substantially within the past twenty years. To date, however, little published research has examined ethical problems of retail salespeople. This frame of reference should be of importance to retail managers because the nature of the retail sales job may lead to ethical problems for sales personnel. This article examines what situations (1) are ethically troublesome for retail salespeople, (2) are believed to be currently addressed by company policies, and (3) should be addressed by company policies. Over the past few years two important approaches to marketing strategy planning have been developed. A key planning relationship in each approach is the relationship between prices and market share. The Boston Consulting Group suggests that market share leaders match the prices of their lowest priced competitors while the Profit Impact of Marketing Strategies study has found that share leaders have higher prices. Which is correct? This empirical study tests the direction of the share price relationship in one specific retail environment, namely gasoline retail markets. The results strongly indicate that the share leaders in gasoline retailing consistently have higher prices then their lower share competitors. The study represents the first time that marketing planning relationships such as that between share and price have been extended to retail operations from their more traditional areas of application in marketing by manufacturers.  相似文献
