浅谈元认知策略在高职英语教学中的应用

现行教育大纲下,结合学生专业将教材中英语的听、说、读、写的能力要求,通过教学模式、策略等转变,将课程内容迁移、内化成为学生语言能力。在增强学生自我学习能力方面,通过对一些教学理论和＂内化＂实践,元认知策略得到了更多的推广。在提倡自我学习的基础上,实施元认知策略,通过对学习过程的监控、调整,培养学生自主学习,达到提高高职英语教学效果和学生英语语言能力水平进行了探索。     

元认知策略观照下的大学英语自主学习

近年来,大学英语自主学习成了热门话题。本文通过对元认知理论和元认知能力培养的综述和评价,来说明元认知策略在大学英语自主学习中的重要作用。在此基础上,分析了我国高校自主学习环境以及现代大学生的素质,提出了融合传统课堂与自主学习结合的大学英语指导性自主学习模式。     

元认知策略与英语自主学习能力培养的实证研究

本文报告了一项元认知策略与英语自主学习能力培养的实证研究。在研究中,采用课堂中的元认知策略训练和课后学习者的合约相结合的方法,对非英语专业2008级两个班级的新生进行了为期一年的元认知策略训练。研究结果表明,训练之前,学习者对元认知策略的认识不足,使用也较少;训练之后,元认知策略增强了学习者的自主学习意识,提高了学习者的自主学习能力。

Perceptions of the Usefulness of Virtual Learning Environments in Accounting Education: A Comparative Evaluation of Undergraduate Accounting Students in Spain and England

As the power of the virtual world continues to manifest itself in people's quality of life and capabilities (including learning), this paper aims to assess accounting students' perceptions of the usefulness of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) to their learning experiences. It also considers the factors that may influence students' preferences for the VLE compared to face-to-face learning. The study administered a structured questionnaire to final-year undergraduate accounting students in two universities, one in Spain and the other in England, and applied t-test, correlation and factor analyses. Although the results show that students from both countries find VLE tools and techniques useful for their learning, within the frame of the contingency theory of education, the study found that students’ perceptions of the usefulness of VLEs are strongly dependent upon their country of study, due to the significant differences between Spanish and English students in five of the seven VLE contextual factors.     

New Zealand High School Students’ Perception of Accounting: How and Why Those Perceptions Were Formed

Abstract

Attempts to change the negative perceptions high school students have of accounting appear to have been unsuccessful. Using the social psychology theory of stereotyping, this study explains why such attempts have been unsuccessful and proposes intervention strategies. Individual perception data were collected through questionnaires and focus groups with New Zealand high school students, half of whom had studied accounting and the other half who had not. The findings suggest that high school accounting students have a very narrow and specific perception of accounting based on their classroom experience. The non-accounting students, on the other hand, have a very abstract perception of accounting, which is devoid of specificity. Failure to address the issues identified may lead the stereotype to become self-fulfilling and result in the recruitment of future accountants who lack the required skills and capabilities required by the profession.

Gauging the development of innovative capabilities in Accounting and Finance students: can they drive the national innovation agenda?

As automation catalyses the shift from number-crunching to more complex roles spanning risk management and strategic decision-making, it is important that higher education is developing the capabilities for Accounting and Finance graduates to successfully contribute to innovation. The study gauges the development of innovative capabilities among students and new graduates using national data from 2012 to 2015. It identifies gaps in the development of certain capabilities, discusses the implications of these and presents strategies for improvement. Findings will inform stakeholders how to better prepare these graduates to contribute to innovation and, ultimately, improve economic growth and global competitiveness in Australia.     

Business intelligence systems use in performance measurement capabilities: Implications for enhanced competitive advantage

The purpose of this study is to better understand how the quality of a Business Intelligence (BI) system improves the diagnostic and interactive dimensions of management control systems (MCS), thereby enhancing performance measurement capabilities, which in turn are positively associated with competitive advantage. Integrating theory from performance measurement, organizational learning and the knowledge-based view of the firm, a theoretical model is developed that considers three concepts of BI quality (infrastructure integration, functionality, and self-service) and the roles they play in enhancing diagnostic and interactive performance measurement capabilities. Data collected via survey from 324 CEOs and CFOs provides support for the theorized effects of BI quality on performance measurement capabilities. These capabilities in turn are positively associated with competitive advantage.

Implications of student‐generated screencasts on final examination performance

While educational technologies can play a vital role in students’ active participation in introductory accounting subjects, learning outcome implications are less clear. We believe this is the first accounting education study examining the implications of student‐generated screencast assignments. We find benefits in developing the graduate attributes of communication, creativity and multimedia skills, consistent with calls by the profession. Additionally, we find improvement in final examination performance related to the assignment topic, notably in lower performing students. The screencast assignment was optional, and the findings suggest a tailored approach to assignment design related to students’ developmental needs is appropriate.
