Wen's Report: No Difficulty Can Daunt China

On March 5, China's Premier Wen Jiabao delivered a government work report to the 3,000 or so National People's Congress (NPC) deputies and more than 2,000 members of the Chinese People's Political Consulta-tive Conference (CPPCC) National Committee.

CCPIT is busy with the ＂two sessions＂, especially its Chairman, Wan Jifei, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People＇s Political Consultative Conference （CPPCC）, in the field of international friendship activities. This time Wan＇s role for the two sessions is more focused on his title of Vice Director of the Shanghai World Expo Executive Committee. On March 8, Wan attended a special press conference on the World Expo 2010, pledging that the financial crisis would not affect the overall success of the Expo. CCPIT, as one of the key organizers of the World Expo 2010, is faced with public concern about what will be done to combat the global financial crisis and its effects.     

NPC ＆ CPPCC in Foreign Officials Eyes

NPC ＆ CPPCC was closed in Beijing on March 13, during the two sessions, not only Chinese but the overseas kept a close watch on the two annual sessions, the proposals covering all fields of China development, for instance, to improve the people＇s livelihood, to perfect citizen＇s health care system, and to stimulate domestic demand. Our journalists also invited some foreign officials in China to comment on the event. During the interview, they paid close concern on the two sessions that it is favorable to access China＇s policies; so that they could convey the policy to the companies willing to invest in China or do business with Chinese companies. The officials were interested in the issues such as the ＂stimulus package＂, the reforms related to the democratization process, the environment protection, and the economic policy for foreign companies.

Im/Ex in Feb Continues to Fall

February of 2009 witnessed the fourth consecutive months of shrinking trade value of China. On March 11, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China announced the profile of China foreign trade import and export in the first two months of this year. According to the customs＇ statistics, the total import and export value for the first two months amounted to US$266.77 billion, 27.2% decreasing compared with the same period last year. Among the total value, the export value amounted to US$155.33 billion, down 21.1% year-on-year, while the import US$111.44 billion, 34.2% decreased year-on-year. And the trade surplus in January and February achieved US$43.89 billion, 59.6% growth year-on-year.     

Im/Ex Rebound Continues in July

On August 11, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China released the profile of China foreign trade import and export in July and the first seven months of this year. Foreign trade conducted by China suffered continuous decrease since last October; however, from this March, rebound results have been achieved for consecutive 5 months. The month-on-month figure has been growing steadily, though in slow pace.

Nine o＇clock in the morning of March 5th,2008,the first meeting of the eleventh session of National People＇s Congress was held in the Great Hall of People.As usual,the first performance of this big event in China was from the government working report made by the Premier.Five years of government＇s work in this session was counted in Premier Wen Jiabao＇s working report.     

Im/Ex in April, 2010： First Monthly Trade Deficit in Six Years

On April 10, 2010, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China （GAC） released the profile of China foreign trade import and export in April and the first quarter of this year. China＇s trade balance turned red in March with the country＇s first monthly trade deficit in six years. The GAC attributed the March deficit to shrinking exports of labor-intensive products, surging imports and rising commodity prices.     

The 101^st Canton Fair, Import Functions Added, Eyes New Market, New Trade Partners

The 101st Session of Canton Fair will be held in Canton city,Guangdong province from April 15 to 30, 2007. The fair, used to be named as China Export Commodities Fair for 100 sessions, is to be rebranded as China Import and Export Fair. By changing the name, a new service as import will be added, so as to encourage more import to meet the capacious market demand in China market, pursuing a more balanced and healthier international trade development.
