Understanding the dynamics of learning across social worlds: A case study from implementing IS in the Ethiopian public health care system

This paper adopts a novel learning perspective on information systems development. Building on the works of Anselm Strauss we conceptualize development processes as “negotiated orders” where members from different “social worlds” encounter and negotiate differences and tensions. We argue that processes of inquiry and action are interwoven, and this is what facilitates and stimulates learning. Based on a case study where different versions of open source software were customized, further developed and implemented in the Ethiopian public health care system, this paper explores the interplay between participation, politics and learning in IS implementation and use. We consider learning to be an integral part of the social practice, and it occurs mainly through encounters and negotiations between actors from different social worlds who might have competing interests and values. The paper also analyzed how the software in question functioned as a boundary object, not just in the traditional sense by facilitating cooperation among these actors. An even more significant role of the boundary object was in bringing the existing differences to the foreground and thus stimulating negotiations and learning. As such, this paper contributes to three discourses: organizational learning, boundary objects and health information systems in developing countries in particular and more specifically to IS implementation in settings with scarce resources, heterogeneous stakeholders, and diverse interests.

Design implications for task-specific search utilities for retrieval and re-engineering of code

The importance of information retrieval systems is unquestionable in the modern society and both individuals as well as enterprises recognise the benefits of being able to find information effectively. Current code-focused information retrieval systems such as Google Code Search, Codeplex or Koders produce results based on specific keywords. However, these systems do not take into account developers’ context such as development language, technology framework, goal of the project, project complexity and developer’s domain expertise. They also impose additional cognitive burden on users in switching between different interfaces and clicking through to find the relevant code. Hence, they are not used by software developers. In this paper, we discuss how software engineers interact with information and general-purpose information retrieval systems (e.g. Google, Yahoo!) and investigate to what extent domain-specific search and recommendation utilities can be developed in order to support their work-related activities. In order to investigate this, we conducted a user study and found that software engineers followed many identifiable and repeatable work tasks and behaviours. These behaviours can be used to develop implicit relevance feedback-based systems based on the observed retention actions. Moreover, we discuss the implications for the development of task-specific search and collaborative recommendation utilities embedded with the Google standard search engine and Microsoft IntelliSense for retrieval and re-engineering of code. Based on implicit relevance feedback, we have implemented a prototype of the proposed collaborative recommendation system, which was evaluated in a controlled environment simulating the real-world situation of professional software engineers. The evaluation has achieved promising initial results on the precision and recall performance of the system.

Excel在岩土勘察指标统计中的应用

为了克服在利用专业勘察软件进行岩土物理力学性质指标进行分层统计时,要让有的数据不参加统计计算时操作不便、统计结果不能立即显示,统计结果如不合适又得重头再来一遍的缺点,将专业勘察软件生成的分层数据导入Excel中,采用Excel方法进行各种指标分层统计计算,形成Excel模板后可多次重复使用,经实际使用,计算过程透明、结果同步显示、数据准确,可在工作中应用。     

基于模糊数学的审计软件综合评价模型的研究

论文从多层次模糊综合评价模型着手，构建了综合评价指标体系，分析了模糊综合评价算法。在此基础上，构建审计软件综合评价系统。审计软件综合评价系统是由审计软件专业使用者对现有的审计软件进行评价，运用多层次模糊综合评价模型进行数据处理，得到审计软件的评价结果。     

浅谈组态技术在气动仿真实验中的应用研究

随着工业生产的发展,气动技术的应用领域也迅速扩大。我系气动实验室采用的FluidSIM-P软件只能对基于继电器的气动自动化控制系统进行仿真测试,而利用组态软件内的元件组成接近实际工业应用的界面,自己编制控制程序,发挥了学生的创造性思维和动手能力,解决了高职院校开设的气动实验课单一、乏味的问题,大大提高了学生的学习兴趣,从而提高教学质量、强化教学效果。
