本文采用深交所对上市公司信息披露质量的评级作为信息披露质量代理变量,以Jensen指数、净资产收益率、总资产收益率及总资产周转率作为公司绩效代理指标,检验了2002—2005年深市上市公司信息披露质量对公司绩效的影响。研究发现,信息披露质量与公司绩效之间存在显著内在关联性,信息披露质量较高的公司,其市场表现和财务绩效也都较佳。因此,合理引导公司信息披露,对于提升上市公司绩效具有重要导向效应。  相似文献

本文主要以沪市5个重污染行业的A股公司为研究对象,从政府如何促进企业履行其环保义务和如何使企业主动披露其环境信息出发,研究了政府环境补贴对环境信息披露水平的影响。研究结果发现:政府环境补贴与环境信息披露水平显著正相关,即环境补贴能促进企业环境信息披露。本文的研究为我国环境信息披露的研究提供新的研究视角,支持了政府机构制定的环境政策。  相似文献

政府信息公开是提高政府透明度及行政效率的重要制度安排,深刻影响政府资源配置效率与应用绩效.以我国2011-2015年 A股民营上市公司为样本,研究企业注册地政府信息公开质量对企业财政补贴可获性及补贴绩效的影响,结果显示:政府信息公开程度越高的地区,民营企业通过政治关系获取财政补贴现象得以有效抑制,财政补贴配置效率和财政补贴的使用绩效更高.  相似文献

通过分析国内上市公司2012年发布的社会责任报告与公司社会绩效的相关性来揭示社会责任报告反映信息的有效性,从而考察上市公司社会责任报告的质量水平。实证结果表明:上市公司社会责任报告与社会绩效之间存在显著关系,但社会绩效变量对社会责任报告水平解释能力较弱,表明上市公司社会责任报告存在一定的虚构内容。政府部门应加强监管,使企业社会责任行为落到实处。为认识我国上市公司履行社会责任提供了新的视角和经验证据,对于促进上市公司提高社会责任信息披露水平、积极履行社会责任具有现实意义。  相似文献

本文以2006-2010年的深市A股上市公司为样本,以每股收益为上市公司财务绩效的替代变量,以深交所对上市公司信息披露考评结果作为信息披露质量的替代变量,研究了我国上市公司信息披露质量对其财务绩效的影响。结果表明:上市公司信息披露质量对其财务绩效的影响是非线性的,具体表现为正u型;上市公司信息披露质量的变动对其财务绩效的影响是非对称的。最后,本文根据回归分析结果提出了相应的政策建议。  相似文献

政府为发展地方经济,会介入企业的投资、经营、管理等活动,政府补贴是一种最直接的手段,政府补贴成为影响企业活动的重要因素.在对相关理论进行规范研究的基础上,本文选取2014-2016年A股上市公司为研究样本,分析了政府补贴与企业绩效、社会效益的关系,并进一步分析了所有制差异、企业经验差异对政府补贴效果的影响.本文的研究表明:(1)政府补贴会提高企业绩效,同时也可以提高社会效益;(2)政府补贴对非国有企业的促进作用更强;(3)政府补贴对富有经验的企业,即发展规模更大、存在时间更长的企业的促进作用更强.  相似文献

在披露意愿、股权性质、经济周期调节变量的基础上研究企业社会责任对财务绩效的影响,考虑企业社会责任的时间滞后效应,加入滞后一期的CSR研究对财务绩效的影响。实证结果表明:当期企业社会责任与当期财务绩效呈正相关但不显著,滞后一期的企业社会责任显著正向影响当期财务绩效;当期企业社会责任与披露意愿、经济周期的交互作用表明,相对于经济繁荣期,在经济收缩期企业当期自愿披露企业社会责任报告会更显著提高当期财务绩效;当期企业社会责任与股权性质的交互作用表明相对于非国有企业,国企当期承担企业社会责任会显著提高当期财务绩效;滞后一期的企业社会责任与股权性质、经济周期的交互作用表明在经济收缩期,国有企业上一年履行企业社会责任会显著降低当期财务绩效。  相似文献

This study examines the association between Brown et al.’s (2010) four dimensions of the quality of the performance appraisal system (the clarity, communication, fairness and trust) with the work‐related attitudes [job‐related stress, employee organisational commitment (EOC) and propensity to remain] of Australian accounting academics. Furthermore, the study examines the influence of such work‐related attitudes on academic performance in respect to research, teaching and community service. Data were collected from a mail survey distributed to accounting academics within Australian universities. The results indicate that all four dimensions of the quality of the performance appraisal system were associated with work‐related attitudes. Specifically, communication, fairness and clarity were positively associated with the level of EOC, trust was negatively associated with job‐related stress and fairness was positively associated with the propensity to remain. With respect to the effect on academic performance, job‐related stress was found to be negatively associated with research performance, while the level of EOC was positively associated with both teaching and community service. The findings highlight the importance of improving the quality of performance appraisal systems within the Australian higher education sector.  相似文献

This study examines the relationship of corporate social performance (CSP) to financial performance (FP) and institutional ownership. We perform our empirical analyses on a large-sample of publicly held Canadian firms and use a novel independent measure of CSP. Based on tests utilizing four years of panel data, we found no significant relationship between a composite measure of firms’ CSP and FP. However, we found significant relationships between individual measures of firms’ CSP regarding environmental and international activities and FP. Our findings indicate a significant relationship between firms’ composite CSP measure and the number of institutions investing in firms’ stock. In addition, we found significant relationships between firms’ CSP ratings regarding their international activities and product quality and the number of institutions investing in firms’ stock. These findings, while subject to the limitations inherent in the use of specific CSP measures, provide mixed support for the business case for CSP.  相似文献

This research investigates the role that leveraged recapitalizations (recaps) play in disciplining inefficient managers. Accounting ratios are used to evaluate firm operating profitability and efficiency. Matched-firm-adjusted returns are used to assess stock market performance. Pre-recap and post-recap performance are evaluated separately. The results reveal that 1) recap managers are at least as efficient as matching non-recap managers prior to recapitalization, 2) recaps do not improve operating profitability and efficiency, and 3) increases in stockholder wealth around recap announcements are transitory. Further analysis indicates that post-recap stock price performance is correlated negatively with the recap-induced change in leverage.  相似文献

This study examines under specific situations the performance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) from two points of view—business performance and public performance. We find that SOEs with a politically connected CEO perform well even during a financial crisis as the SOEs are able to obtain more favorable treatment. However, the results imply that politically connected CEOs perform poorly when government subsidies are excluded as they may lack the skills for successful management. The results also confirm that SOEs encourage more corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities during a financial crisis in an effort to gain legitimacy by demonstrating that they are committed to social responsibility. However, politically connected CEOs have a negative effect on CSR performance during a financial crisis.  相似文献

Conventional wisdom holds that bonds are relatively homogenous investments compared to equities. Consequently, factors that explain variation in returns among bond mutual funds may differ in magnitude from those for equity mutual funds. In this study, a time-series cross-sectional analysis is employed to investigate the relationship between a bond fund's risk-adjusted return and specific fund attributes. Results indicate that a bond fund's past performance does not predict future performance and that bond fund managers are generally ineffective at increasing risk-adjusted returns. However, unlike equity mutual funds, bond mutual funds do appear to enjoy economies of scale.  相似文献

Using data on 157 large companies in Poland and Hungary, this paper employs Bayesian structural equation modeling to examine the relations among corporate governance, managers' independence from owners in terms of strategic decision making, exporting, and performance. Managers' independence is positively associated with firms' financial performance and exporting. In turn, the extent of managers' independence is negatively associated with ownership concentration, but positively associated with the percentage of foreign directors on the firm's board. We interpret these results as indicating that concentrated owners tend to constrain managerial autonomy at the cost of the firm's internationalization and performance, but board participation of foreign stakeholders enhances the firm's export orientation and performance by encouraging executives' decision-making autonomy.  相似文献

Organizations are increasingly calling for greater budgetary oversight of the product innovation process. A major focus of their concern is the costs associated with product innovation together with their need to enhance their financial performance through these endeavours. However, the literature has raised a number of issues arising from such budgetary proposals, suggesting that the creativity of those involved in product innovation should not be constrained by cost concerns, that the use of management control systems is incompatible with product innovation, and that budgets may stifle innovation. It is argued in this paper that the extent to which product innovation has a positive impact on the financial performance of firms is dependent on the manner in which budgets are used in organizations. If budgets are used predominantly as a planning mechanism, then such budget planning facilitates product innovation resulting in enhanced performance. In contrast, if budgets are used primarily as a control mechanism, then it is unlikely that product innovation will contribute to financial performance. The results of the study are consistent with these expectations. This paper makes a contribution to the literature by providing empirical evidence of the impact of budgets in the context of product innovation.  相似文献

This study provides a comprehensive examination of recent mutual fund performance by analyzing a large set of both mutual funds and fund attributes in an effort to link performance to fund-specific characteristics. The results indicate that the hypothesized relationships between performance and the explanatory variables are generally upheld. After taking into consideration general market conditions and fund investment objective, the characteristic variables that relate to fund popularity, growth, cost, and management also explain performance. Finally, after controlling for survivorship and benchmark error as well as fund-specific factors, the results refute the performance persistence phenomenon.  相似文献

Recent research on the impact of national culture on control systems had overlooked two important aspects. First, while cross-cultural studies have saturated mainly Anglo-American and Asian nations, other important cultural regions, such as the Nordic cultural group, have largely been overlooked. More importantly, the impact of the diversity within national culture, brought about by the diversity of the population, in terms of ethnic background, religion, language and egalitarianism, has also not been considered. With a low power distance and moderate individualism culture, and relatively centralised and formalised industrial relations systems which emphasise democratic work environment, Norwegian managers' budgetary participation is expected to be high. More importantly, as the Norwegian culture is old and the society homogeneous in terms of ethnic background, religion and egalitarianism, the diversity within the Norwegian culture is likely to be much lower than those of the newer, and much more ethnically diverse, societies.such as Australia and Singapore. Consequently, Norwegian managers' participation is expected to range from medium to high, rather than from low to high. Since high participation situations are common in Norway, prior studies' findings pertaining to high participation situations are expected to be supported in Norway. In contrast, since low participation situations are rare in Norway, prior studies' findings pertaining to low participation are unlikely to be supported in Norway. This study analyzes the impact of economic, financial, and political instability on the liquidity transformation of banks operating in unstable environments. Our main goal is to assess the relationship between overall risk in a country and liquidity transformation. With this goal in mind, we use a sample of five Middle Eastern countries during the period 2005–2010. Our results showed that the high-risk environment has a significant and negative impact on both liquidity transformation and the extension of credit. In addition, we conclude that high capital requirements may reduce further lending, while imposing liquidity requirements seems to be a better strategy for enhancing liquidity transformation.  相似文献
