Italy is a modern, industrialized nation which has managed to preserve its traditional culture intact. It is China＇s old friend, and its long-time trade partner. In 2006, the Year of Italy in China, various measures were taken to broaden the scope of China and Italy＇s relationship, not only in terms of economic cooperation and trade, but also concerning historical and cultural awareness. Standardization,A Hot Issue for IPR Discussion

Since becoming a WTO member in 2001, China has been involved in the discussion of two hot issues： one is the protection of intellectual property rights（IPRs）, and the other is the standardization in the industrial development. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce（MOFCOM） and State Intellectual Property Office（SIPO）, ＂WTO： IPRs Issues in Standardization International Symposium＂ was held in Beijing on April 17, 2007.
