As relationship marketing research evolved, a number of key constructs emerged. Some scholars have argued that these constructs are not conceptually or empirically distinct. We investigate this phenomenon based on the premise that sustained research effort towards studying conceptually overlapping/redundant constructs, while treating them as independent, can hamper the development of the field. We use prototyping, a method adopted from psychology, to examine consumers’ views of these constructs, and then identify relationship contexts where constructs are distinct or redundant.  相似文献

This study presents an empirical analysis of the impact of Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) option initiation on the price volatility and trading volume of the underlying equities. Virtually every firm with options listed on the CBOE from April 1973 to June 1986 is included in the empirical tests. The results of the tests strongly suggest that option listing leads to decreases in the total (but not systematic) risk of optioned firms. Although total trading volume appears to increase following option listing, securities listed after 1980 show smaller increases in volume than those listed in the early years of option trading.  相似文献

This article compares the growth of e-commerce in China and India by identifying factors that act as driving forces and barriers to this progress. A comparative study of Internet development in the two countries reveals that although China was connected to the Internet much later than India, it is now far ahead of its Asian rival due to the implementation of several ingenious “Golden Projects” and the rapid development of Chinese Internet infrastructure. Nevertheless, there are many shared sociocultural factors that affect the spread of their e-commerce equally. Despite many barriers, the future of e-commerce in both countries appears bright.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an argument to show why we expect that multinational companies will ensure that they communicate credibly about their environmental responsibility, across all their subsidiaries. Credible environmental communication helps to increase the firm’s legitimacy and reduce its liability of foreignness on an issue that is globally relevant. We develop a measure to test if there is a standardized level of environmental communication credibility on the country-specific web sites of MNC subsidiaries around the world and find, in fact, that there is considerable variation across countries, among subsidiaries of different firms and among subsidiaries of the same multinational. We discuss the reasons for this and the implications for firm legitimacy. This paper aims to investigate the impact of environmental policy and training aspects on hotels' sustainability practices, as well as the impact of these practices on their environmental and financial performance. Based on survey data from 312 managers operating in tourism and hospitality industry, this study applies structural equation modelling. Empirical results reveal that hotels' environmental policy and training aspects are positively related to sustainability practices. Environmental communication has almost equal degree of impact on resource and energy conservation, whereas both resource conservation and energy conservation have a significant positive impact on both environmental and financial performance. The main findings of this research highlight that hotels are increasingly considering sustainability issues in their business models and strategies. These findings provide practical managerial implications for the development of tourism and hospitality industry in emerging countries.  相似文献

This paper examines stakeholder responses to impression management tactics used by firms that express environmental commitment. We inductively analyzed data from 98 open-ended questionnaires and identified two impression management tactics that led respondents to believe that a firm was credible in its commitment to the natural environment. Approximately, half of the respondents responded to illustrative impression management tactics that provide images of, and/or broad-brush comments about, the firm’s commitment to the natural environment. The other half responded to demonstrative impression management tactics, which provide specific facts and details about the firm’s operations. The research results provide important insights into the effects of organizational transparency. This article explores the applicability of a model of migration from the human geography literature as a unifying, theoretical framework for understanding consumers’ service provider switching behaviors. Survey data from approximately 700 consumers are used to examine the usefulness of the push, pull, and moorings (PPM) migration model. The PPM migration model performs better than an alternative model; all three categories of antecedents to switching (migration)—push, pull, and mooring variables—have significant direct, and some moderating, effects on switching intentions. Multivariate frailty approaches are most commonly used to define distributions of random vectors, which represent lifetimes of individuals or components and stochastically compare them in terms of various multivariate orders. In this paper, we study a multivariate shared reversed frailty model and a general multivariate reversed frailty mixture model, and derive sufficient conditions for some of the stochastic orderings to hold among the random vectors. We also consider a particular case of a general multivariate mixture model in which the baseline distribution function is represented in terms of a copula and study stochastic comparisons (stochastic and lower orthant order) among the two random vectors.  相似文献
