In this study, we investigate the effects of entrepreneurial human capital on SME performance using data on 2,713 SMEs within
the European Union. Performance was measured in two ways: profitability as ROA and productivity as revenue per employee. Results indicate that both profitability and productivity are positively related to industry-specific
knowledge possessed by the CEO-owner prior to starting up the firm and the general business knowledge acquired once the firm
is up and running. Experience as a result of having previously worked in a firm in the same industry before starting a business
was related to productivity, but there is no relation with profitability. There is a link between performance and inclusion
of other CEO-owners in the founder’s inner circle of advisors. This relationship is positive when the advisor’s venture has
experienced failure and negative when the advisor’s venture has been successful. We discuss the significance of these findings

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is widely accepted as an effective approach for collecting, analyzing, and translating
valuable customer information into managerial action. However, the potential of CRM has been investigated only in the context
of existing products. CRM’s potential to aid in future new product development (NPD) has been neglected. We develop a conceptual
framework in which multiple facets of CRM are linked to new product and company performance. We test this model based on a
cross-functional sample consisting of 115 R&D and 122 Marketing managers from firms spanning multiple industries. The results
provide evidence that CRM has a positive effect on new product performance and further, that this effect is moderated by CRM
reward systems but not CRM technology. We also show that new product performance mediates the relationship between CRM and
company performance. These findings have important implications for research and practice in both the CRM and NPD areas. 相似文献

Utilizing Resource-Advantage Theory as the underlying theoretical foundation and drawing on literature from a variety of disciplines,
we develop a market-oriented sustainability framework. By incorporating sustainability into market orientation, the goal of
strategic alignment of sustainability with marketing strategies is achieved to create a competitive advantage. Three constructs
identified in the model are DNA, stakeholder involvement, and performance management. These three constructs are the drivers
of sustainability. DNA is used as an extended metaphor to clarify and illustrate the workings of an organization and how sustainability
may be implemented. This construct includes core ideology, dynamic capabilities, and societal engagement. The firm’s DNA is
communicated to both internal and external stakeholders, and stakeholders’ concerns should be an influence on strategic marketing
planning. Performance management is the third major construct in the model and includes corporate social performance and corporate
financial performance metrics. Within the model explication, we offer propositions to support market-oriented sustainability

This paper tells the story of how two biotechnologists used models, one working as a technologist and the other as a scientist.
These stories were collected during the development of the key ideas about the nature of technology and technological knowledge
during the latest curriculum development in New Zealand. Their stories of how and why they used models provided insight into
the different role of modelling in technology and science. This difference can be linked to the fundamental difference between
technology as a discipline that attempts to intervene in the world and create something other, and science as a discipline
that attempts to explain the world. The stories illustrate the differences in the purpose, outcome and the underpinning reasoning
across technology and science. We suggest that using such stories supports learning about the nature of technology and the
nature of science and provides an opportunity to add a critical dimension to the development of technological literacy and

Recent academic research suggests that the effects of inward foreign direct investment for productivity and employment may
vary across foreign investors with different characteristics. Using a newly created dataset that integrates micro-level information
from The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency and Statistics Netherlands, this paper explores the role of several of these
characteristics, including e.g. the country of origin, activities and tasks, age and strategic role of foreign affiliates
in The Netherlands in the 2000–2007 period. Our analysis shows that important employment and productivity differences exist
