Managing the shipment of goods to consumers is one of the central aspects of retail competition on the internet. In this article, we analyze internet retailers’ shipping strategies using data from the internet book retailing industry. We find that, controlling for a variety of observable firm characteristics, firms with lower product prices offer lower shipping fees and higher quality shipping in terms of average delivery time, compared to firms with higher product prices. These patterns cannot be readily reconciled with a large class of models of competition under perfect consumer information. Theories based on imperfect consumer information can explain the findings better.

通过对高校、企业、党政机关事业单位人员个体特征和网络购物行为调查结果显示,消费者个体特性,即不同年龄、性别、收入及网络经验对网络购物频率和金额存在显著性差异,是影响消费者购物行为的重要因素。主要特征是:月收入8000元以上、网络经验8年以上、年龄在31-35岁之间的消费者的网络购物频率及金额显著高于其他消费者;女性的网络购物频率和购物金额显著高于男性;教育水平在网络购物频率与金额上没有显著性差异。网络零售企业或个人网店,应依据不同性别、年龄、收入和网络经验等制定相应的需求营销策略,以进一步促进自身经营业务健康快速发展。 相似文献

本文基于我国跨境电商蓬勃发展的崭新事实,重新审视地理距离与贸易规模这一国际贸易经典理论命题,并进一步探讨了互联网弱化地理距离负面影响的理论机制。基于跨境电商物流数据和传统贸易出口数据的研究表明:(1)与传统贸易出口相比,跨境电商出口受地理距离的负面影响较小;(2)贸易伙伴国互联网的发展能够在一定程度上弱化地理距离的负面影响,促进跨境电商出口的增长;(3)从个体层面看,地理距离的负面影响以及互联网的弱化作用,同样会作用于跨境电商企业出口的扩展边际和集约边际,而且二者的作用对于大、中型规模的跨境电商企业而言更加明显。这些结论为我国政府促进跨境电商发展的诸多政策措施、“互联网+外贸”战略以及“网上丝绸之路”建设提供了有力的经验证据支撑。 相似文献

E-commerce has significantly reshaped consumers’ shopping processes and habits. The need to understand the key drivers of online shopping has received keen attention and fueled a rich strand of studies. To help managers and researchers synthesize this growing body of evidence, we conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis to unearth the factors that influence consumers’ online shopping. Our main takeaways reveal that the most important drivers of online shopping (a) conform to the TAM and TPB theories, in addition to (b) website characteristics and past experience. In particular, the multiple predictors are strongly related to online purchase intentions and purchase behavior, where attitude and convenience show the strongest impact. Furthermore, moderator analyses indicate that cultural traits have specific moderating effects on the links between purchase intention and some of its drivers. For instance, power distance and uncertainty avoidance have a positive effect, while individualism, indulgence and masculinity have a negative one. Finally, we apply meta-analytic structural equation modeling to test a conceptual framework including four groups of drivers (consumer–channel interactions, website characteristics, social influence, and consumer characteristics) and different aspects of online shopping. Scientifically judging and comparing different mobile e-commerce retailing applications (apps) are essential to increase online shopping efficiency and enhance design for system improvement. In this research, the use of mobile apps in e-commerce retailing is viewed as an information operation process, and distance of information-state transition (DIT) theory is introduced to measure the “convenience” of mobile apps to obtain service information. Thus, a novel DIT-based evaluation method for the ease of use of mobile apps in e-commerce retailing from the perspective of consumer online shopping behaviour patterns is proposed. Three representative Chinese enterprises, namely, Tianmao Mall, Jingdong Mall and Suning Easy-to-buy, are chosen as study objects. Moreover, the corresponding ease-of-use indicators of three mobile apps under typical online shopping behaviour patterns are evaluated quantitatively. E-commerce livestreaming depends heavily on user engagement. However, the effect of relational bonds (i.e., financial bonds, social bonds, and structural bonds) on user engagement in e-commerce livestreaming has not been well understood. Our study develops a conceptual model to investigate the impacts of relational bonds on user engagement and addresses the mediating role of trust. We collected data from users of the DianTao App. The results show that social bonds and structural bonds positively affect user engagement, while financial bonds have no direct impact on user engagement. Financial bonds, social bonds, and structural bonds are positively related to trust in the broadcaster. Similarly, financial bonds, social bonds, and structural bonds are also positively associated with trust in the platform. Furthermore, trust in the broadcaster and trust in the platform directly affects user engagement, fully mediating the impact of financial bonds on user engagement, while partially mediating the impacts of social bonds and structural bonds on user engagement. In addition, we find that experience moderates the mediating effects of trust between relational bonds and user engagement. The findings of this study provide useful insights for operators who should invest in building relational bonds and user trust to improve user engagement in e-commerce livestreaming. 相似文献
