Surface Transport Distribution Channels in New Zealand

Abstract

This paper complements recent research on distribution in the airline industry by examining distribution channels for a range of surface transport businesses (coaches, rental cars, campervans, rail and inter-island ferries) in New Zealand. The study takes a national perspective, adopts a supply-side approach and is based on the analysis of information from in-depth interviews with selected providers. Particular emphasis is given to establishing the nature of the channels used and to the factors that contribute to differences and similarities in channel structures from one form of transport or product to another. Three broad classes of channels are identified: direct; conventional travel intermediaries; and local intermediaries. While carriers use multiple channels, broader patterns do emerge related to particular forms of travel and market segments.

本文对参与银行理财产品市场的中国A股上市公司进行了统计分析和模型检验,分析了其参与时的数据特征及申购动机。研究发现,中国上市公司参与银行理财产品市场的深度与其最新一期现金余额及等价物规模、净资产大小成显著正相关关系。就整体及平均水平而言,上市公司属于深圳证券交易所的中小企业时,参与银行理财产品市场越深入,不论中央国企还是地方国企,参与深度都高于私人企业,相对于地处东部沿海城市的企业,处于中西部地区的上市公司参与银行理财产品的深度较大。相对于私人企业和地处东部沿海城市的企业,公司为地方国有企业并处于中西部地区时,上市公司参与银行理财产品的弹性较低。同时,银行理财产品的收益率显著影响上市公司参与理财市场的深度和弹性。

Are you for real? An evaluation of the relationship between emotional labour and visitor outcomes

Emotional labour is the management of emotional display to satisfy organisational expectations and can be performed by faking emotions (surface acting) or by managing felt emotion to be ‘authentic’ (deep acting). Despite an assumed positive relationship between deep acting and a range of organisationally-desired visitor outcomes, no previous research has examined the relationship between the types of acting and those outcomes. The present study assessed this relationship in contrast to the effectiveness of surface acting. Drawing upon a sample of 688 visitors and 66 guided tours, the results of hierarchical linear modelling found no statistically significant relationship between guide-reported acting and visitor perceptions of acting. Visitor perceptions of deep and surface acting were related to visitor outcomes in the expected direction. Implications of the findings suggest tourism organisations should focus on managing perceptions of emotional authenticity to enhance visitor outcomes.

长江三峡库首区地壳表层工程地质环境演化的探讨

文章对三峡库首区的工程地质环境演化进行了较全面的探讨,尤其是对某些有争议的问题进行了论证并据自己的工作得到一些新的结果。作者首先论证了库首区的地壳表层结构,强调仙女山、九湾溪、天阳坪三断裂构成的K字型断裂系的重要意义,并据断裂构造岩的成分结构及力学性质分析了仙女山断裂的多期活动及孕震物理。其次从白垩—老第三系的分布、温泉的排列、地形变的协调性、地应力的一致性论证了仙女山断裂活动自新构造期以来即已南北一体化,其北延过江的形式是反经验的,即以挤压应力拗折带的形式过江,而在地表无确定的断裂带存在。第三,由赤平投影解,水系优势方位统计等反演研究及现代地应力测量结果,证明库首区自燕山运动以来基本上以NW向应力场为主,属于NNW向构造体系。第四,由阶地、第四纪堆积物及物理地质作用的研究,发现新滩地带不存在阶地“超覆”,瑶子“砾岩”并无明显的构造变形迹象。库首区自新构造期始至今稳定抬升,升率约为0.1 mm/gt。在此背景下,发育了秭归—渔洋关孕震断裂带及黔江—兴山孕震断裂带的一部分。这两个带控制的地区、地壳内外动力地质作用活跃。特别是新滩地带近2000年的重力崩滑(外动力)与区域地震(内动力)在时空上具有明显的相谐性。此外,文中还结合三峡的新构造研究提出了新构造期次划分方案,它对于工程地质环境研究是有实际意义的。

Bug planet: Frontier myth in Starship Troopers

This paper examines Paul Verhoeven's 1997 film Starship Troopers against Robert A. Heinlein's eponymous 1959 novel, arguing that both productions reinscribe the ideologies of America's mythic frontier history in their fictional futures. The paper shows that despite the conspicuous postmodernisation of narrative in Verhoeven's adaptation, components of the frontier mythology codified in Heinlein's novel— expansionism, Social Darwinism and a violent relationship with the indigenous Other—remain at the film's thematic centre.
