Random and fuzzy utility models for road route choice

The objective of this work is the specification, calibration and validation of a route choice model distinguishing the phases of set perception and route choice among the alternatives belonging to the chosen set. Route generation is performed with a selective multi-criteria approach; route choice is performed using random and fuzzy utility models. As regards the fuzzy utility models, a new specification of a fuzzy model is introduced. Random and fuzzy utility models are compared and applied on a test road network and were specified and calibrated for national road freight transport on a real Italy-wide network.     

A Cooperative Bargaining Approach to the Assignment Market

For each assignment market, an associated bargaining problem is defined and some bargaining solutions to this problem are analyzed. For a particular choice of the disagreement point, the Nash solution and the Kalai–Smorodinsky solution coincide and give the midpoint between the buyers-optimal core allocation and the sellers-optimal core allocation, and thus they belong to the core.     

Scientific method and retailing research: A retrospective

In this paper, we review the 164 articles published in the Journal of Retailing over the 2002-2007 time-span, the period reviewed by Grewal and Levy in their recent article entitled “Retailing Research: Past, Present and Future” [Grewal, Dhruv and Michael Levy (2007), “Passing the Baton, Journal of Retailing 2001 to 2007,” Journal of Retailing, 83 (4) (in this issue)] for their content. Two study characteristics are reviewed for each publication: (1) approach adopted for methodology (classified into eight categories of Student Surveys, Consumer Surveys, Secondary Data, Laboratory Studies, Industry Surveys, Qualitative Methods, modeling, and other) and (2) inferential tools employed by the scholars. The latter are sub-grouped into six categories of regression, ANOVA/MANOVA, structural equation modeling (SEM), analytical modeling, qualitative analysis, and other. Patterns of the usage of these approaches and techniques are tracked over the years and across content areas. We find that researchers in a particular Substantive Content Area tend to focus on particular methodological approaches and inferential tools. We argue that much is to be gained by shaking up these historical patterns.     

基于约束的离散粒子群算法求解大规模指派问题

针对现有进化算法在求解传统指派问题时因取整而影响优化效果的问题,采用了一种基于AllDifferent约束的置换离散粒子群优化算法,该算法针对指派问题中各变量不能重复取值的特点,改进了算法的迭代方式,并引入了模拟退火的差解接受准则以提高优化效果,仿真算例表明改进后的算法在质量上和时间上更具有效性。

A study of secondary spectrum use using agent-based computational economics

Wireless communication relies on access to the radiocommunications spectrum. A series of high-priced spectrum auctions has indicated that there is a scarcity or an inefficient use of spectrum resources. This paper presents an Agent-based Computational Economics (ACE) model designed to study the secondary use spectrum market, which improves spectrum usage by allowing incumbent spectrum users to lease unused portions of their assigned spectrum to third parties who could put them to a better use. In this paper, we are particularly interested in the conditions under which such a market is likely to emerge.

Characterization of the extreme core allocations of the assignment game

A characterization of the extreme core allocations of the assignment game is given in terms of the reduced marginal worth vectors. For each ordering in the player set, a payoff vector is defined where each player receives his or her marginal contribution to a certain reduced game played by his or her predecessors. This set of reduced marginal worth vectors, which for convex games coincide with the usual marginal worth vectors, is proved to be the set of extreme points of the core of the assignment game. Therefore, although assignment games are hardly ever convex, the same characterization of extreme core allocations is valid for convex games.
