CEO Power,CEO Age and the Policy Instrument Property of State-Owned-Enterprises

In this paper, we examine the relationship between CEO power, CEO age and the efficiency of policy implementation in listed corporations controlled by each province’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) in China. We find that CEOs with more power implement policy are more efficiently. We also find that younger powerful CEOs will act more effectively than their older competitors. The reason for the difference is that younger powerful CEOs in state-owned companies are incentivized to implement their policy tasks to gain promotions or political capital. Our results are important to future SOE reform and to understanding the characteristics of SOEs as policy instruments.

基于Web的网络化虚拟仪器技术及应用

网络化虚拟仪器是继虚拟仪器之后,仪器仪表领域出现的又一个新的发展方向,它是将Internet技术与虚拟仪器技术相结合,继承并发展了虚拟仪器的概念,延伸和扩大了虚拟仪器的资源。文章利用LabVIEW平台的G Web服务器和DataSocket服务器,将数据发布到以太网或Internet网上。二者结合,可以开发性能优异而体系开放的远程虚拟实验室系统,丰富学校的实验教学。

Does weight status affect academic performance? Evidence from Australian children

This article investigates the impact of children’s weight status on their academic performance using the Longitudinal Survey of Australian Children. Considering the endogeneity of the weight status variable (obesity or overweight), to obtain consistent estimates of its impact, we use the body mass index of biological parents as instrumental variables. The two-stage least square estimation shows that obesity or overweight has a significant negative impact on academic performance. Furthermore, the effect of child weight status is different across grade levels. Overweight has a larger negative impact on academic performance for senior year students, especially on numeracy.     

员工教育与中国制造业企业生产率——基于世界银行调查数据的研究

通过构建异质性企业模型,本文从理论上探讨了员工教育对企业生产率的作用,并基于世界银行2012年中国制造业企业调查数据进行检验。结果显示:在控制人口和经济密度等因素基础上,各省(市)平均出生率是企业员工教育合格的工具变量;提高员工教育水平可显著促进制造业企业生产率增长。另外,员工教育在大企业中对生产率的促进作用明显高于中小企业;资本密集度提高有利于发挥员工教育对企业生产率的促进作用;生育率与员工教育负相关,出生率每增加1‰,员工平均教育将减少0. 423年。在添加控制变量、分组检验和更换工具变量后,所得结论依然稳健。

Relationships of Organizational Justice and Organizational Identification: The Mediating Effects of Perceived Organizational Support in Hong Kong

Women's role in management is an important issue. This is based not just on moral, but also on economic grounds. In many countries female participation rates in labour markets have increased, but a similar expansion into managerial posts has commonly lagged behind this, often an indication of the resilience of the so-called ‘glass ceiling’. We use South Korea as an example to explore this. We review the literature in the area and provide theoretical explanations and a lens through which to view developments which indicate that social and cultural, rather than economic, reasons often underpin the situation. We go on to outline some possible ways to confront female managerial discrimination and to increase women's roles in management.
