Using Choice Experiments to Value the Natura 2000 Nature Conservation Programs in Finland

This paper is concerned with the preferences of the Finnish households for a controversial nature conservation program – the European Union's Natura 2000 Network. Since the program was mainly based on biological considerations, it met strong public opinions from different interest groups in Finland. Using the choice experimental method, we attempt to estimate the values that the Finnish households would place on different preservation levels. It is found that the mean willingness to accept for a decrease in the nature preservation area is much greater than the mean willingness to pay for an increase by the same amount. Also, the marginal willingness to pay becomes zero after an initial increase in the natural preservation area, which is consistent with our earlier findings in a binary choice valuation study. Policy implications of these results are also discussed in relation to different decision criteria.

分别对制造商回收和零售商回收建立模型并对其进行敏感性分析和数值仿真,探讨了履行企业社会责任对再制造闭环供应链的影响,研究表明:无论是哪个企业进行废旧产品的回收,承担企业社会责任都会对自身的利润产生影响,同时在零售商回收废旧产品的过程中会产生更多的消费者剩余。但是企业履行社会责任时,努力程度越高对于整个闭环供应链的利润越有利,还会对整个社会福利有促进作用。     

放开贷款利率管制对企业创新投资的影响研究

基于中国贷款利率市场化的准自然实验,利用沪深A股制造业上市公司2007—2020年数据,对放开贷款利率管制后的企业创新投资行为进行了研究。实证结果表明,放开贷款利率管制显著提升了企业创新投资水平,而这种提升作用主要通过增加企业长期贷款规模来实现。同时,相对于融资约束较小、技术水平较低的企业,放开贷款利率管制对企业创新投资的促进作用在融资约束较大、技术水平较高的企业中更为明显。

Wage delegation in the field

By conducting a natural field experiment, we analyze the managerial policy of delegating the wage choice to employees. We find that this policy enhances performance significantly, which is remarkable since allocated wage premiums of the same size have no effect at all. Observed self‐imposed wage restraints and absence of negative peer effects speak in favor of wage delegation, although the chosen wage premium levels severely dampen its net value. Additional experimental and survey data provide important insights into employees' underlying motivations.     

Information Effects on Consumers' Preferences and Willingness to Pay for a Functional Food Product: The Case of Red Ginseng Concentrate*

This paper elicits consumers' preferences associated with attributes of a very popular food product in Asia: red ginseng concentrate. The results of a choice experiment suggest that an asymmetric information problem can cause consumers' preferences and valuation for red ginseng concentrate to be significantly influenced by objective information about the product's attributes. The results imply that while objective information can result in differential changes in valuation for different product attributes, it can increase consumers' willingness to pay for red ginseng concentrate. The paper also discuss important policy and marketing implications from the results of the study.
