Taste and nutrition: the uses and effectiveness of different advertising claims in women's magazine food advertisements

A multi-method study was conducted to examine different advertising claims in current food advertising and to determine the effectiveness of different advertising claims on females’ evaluative judgments of food advertisements. Content analysis results of 678 women's magazine food ads indicated functional food ads appeared to adopt nutrition appeals without taste claims and a combined use of nutrition appeals and taste claims, whereas hedonic food ads tended to use taste claims without nutrition appeals. Nevertheless, these food advertising practices were called into question by the results of two experiments, showing the combined use of nutrition appeals and taste claims was the most effective strategy for both hedonic and functional foods. However, for hedonic foods, advertisers need to include more congruent than extremely incongruent claims. Implications for food advertisers and policy-makers were discussed.     

主观感受对中国农村老年女性生活自理能力影响研究——基于陕西省农村的调查数据分析

利用2009年在陕西省进行的"陕西省农村老年女性生活福利状况"调查数据,分析了健康自评、心理福利自评两个个体主观感受变量对农村老年女性生活自理能力的影响。个体主观感受状态对农村老年女性生活自理能力有着显著的正相关影响,较好的健康自评和心理福利自评将显著提高老年女性的日常生活自理能力和器械支持自理能力。研究结果为增加农村老年女性主观感受,从而促进其生活自理能力的提高提供了理论依据。     

政治联系方式与民营企业捐赠:度量方法与经验证据

选择公益性捐赠视角,手工搜集了中国资本市场民营上市公司的政治联系数据。将政治联系区分为政府官员类政治联系和代表委员类政治联系两类,在虚拟变量法的基础上拓宽了政治联系的度量方法,进行适当的赋值,并同时采纳"赋值法"和"虚拟变量法",实证检验了民营企业的政治联系方式对其捐赠行为的影响。研究结果表明:无论采取"赋值法"还是"虚拟变量法",民营上市公司的代表委员类政治联系对捐赠金额存在显著的、正向的影响,但政府官员类政治联系对其捐赠金额无显著影响;此外,"赋值法"和"虚拟变量法"的统计显著性虽然一致,但是经济显著性却存在差异,赋值法能够更好地勾勒不同的政治联系层级对捐赠金额的影响,且拟合较优。     

Cooperation Memorandum Signed Between Qinghai and CCPIT

Since the success of 2007 China（Qinghai）International Halal Food and Products Fair（CIHFP）was firstly held in Xinning last November,the cooperation between Qinghai Province and CCPIT stepped into much closer.In her visit to Beijing during the Two Sessions period, China＇s only female governor of province,Song Xiuyan signed a cooperation memorandum to celebrate the fruits they have achieved in the past 30 years of reform and opening-up.And the counterpart this time is exactly CCPIT.     

The Development of Female Global Managers: The Role of Mentoring and Networking

This paper explores the role of mentoring and networking in the career development of global female managers. The paper is based on data collected from interviews with 50 senior female managers. The voices of the female managers illustrate some of the difficulties associated with informal organisational processes, in particular mentoring and networking, which hinder their career development. The findings confirm that female managers can miss out on global appointments because they lack mentors, role models, sponsorship, or access to appropriate networks – all of which are commonly available to their male counterparts. The interviewees suggest that men, as the dominant group, may want to maintain their dominance by excluding women from the informal interactions of mentoring and networking. The findings further suggest that if females had more access to networks and mentors they could be socialised in both the formal and informal norms of the organisation and gain career advantages from these. The managers reveal that they encounter additional barriers in ‹a man’s world’ and remind us that there is still much to be changed.     

Female Presence on Corporate Boards: A Multi-Country Study of Environmental Context

A growing body of ethics research investigates gender diversity and governance on corporate boards, at individual and firm levels, in single country studies. In this study, we explore the environmental context of female representation on corporate boards of directors, using data from 43 countries. We suggest that women’s representation on corporate boards may be shaped by the larger environment, including the social, political and economic structures of individual countries. We use logit regression to conduct our analysis. Our results indicate that countries with higher representation of women on boards are more likely to have women in senior management and more equal ratios of male to female pay. However, we find that countries with a longer tradition of women’s political representation are less likely to have high levels of female board representation.     

山东农村女性教育收益实证研究

实证研究表明,现阶段山东农村女性受教育年限与经济收入二者间呈非线性关系;影响女性收入的主要变量是多种经营收入而非教育投入;女性教育收益普遍低于男性;经济发达及职业选择多元化地区的女性教育收益高于经济欠发达地区的女性;农村公益性技术培训及农村女性劳动力市场化程度等外界因素影响了教育收益规律的常规作用.     

Gender quota in the civil service and female participation: Evidence from Nepal

Female quotas for high-ranking positions in corporations and governments should (i) increase the hiring of women and (ii) inspire more women to apply for these positions. The goal will be that eventually, (iii) even without the quota, more women will apply to and succeed in high-ranked positions. This paper exploits the variations of female quotas in Nepalese civil service exams across years, services, ranks and exams within the same service to investigate these three effects. Empirical results show that female quotas in a given exam increase applications and the hiring of women. Even in exams without a quota, the female quotas of other exams within the same service increase the number of female applicants.     

The effect of manager mobbing behaviour on female employees’ quality of life

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of manager mobbing behaviour on female employees’ quality of working life and overall quality of life. A mobbing behaviour may be a long-term hostile behaviour detected in employees at workplaces. A total of 373 female employees who work in five-star hotels in Turkey participated in this study. First, correlation analysis was performed between manager mobbing behaviour and female employees’ quality of working life, and overall quality of life. The results of the study revealed that there was a negative correlation between manager mobbing behaviour and female employees ‘quality of life. Second, the structural equation model was applied to analyse the relationship among these three constructs. The results of this analysis showed that managers’ mobbing behaviour has a significant negative effect on female employees ‘quality of working life and overall quality of life. In addition, employees’ quality of working life influences their overall quality of life.     

健美操运动对我校女大学生心理素质影响

健美操运动是女大学生比较喜欢的一项运动,对女大学生心理素质产生积极的影响.本文通过文献资料法、访问法、问卷调查法、数据统计等方法对女大学生上健美操课情况进行调查,了解健美操对她们的心理素质的影响情况.结果表明:通过参加健美操锻炼,女大学生自我满意程度、身体协调性、灵活性、独立性、情绪调节能力、意志力和性格、社会适应能力等方面都有较显著增强。
