CEO's empathy and salience of socioemotional wealth in family SMEs – The moderating role of external directors

A focus on preserving socioemotional wealth may influence entrepreneurial activities in family firms. In this paper, we identify the emotion of empathy in the family CEO as an antecedent of socioemotional wealth creation. We argue that the presence of one or more external directors can have a direct as well as moderating influence on the relationship between CEO's empathy and the salience of socioemotional wealth to the family CEO. Our empirical tests confirm these hypotheses. Several areas of future research are suggested to incorporate empathy and other emotions in family business studies.

中国家族企业代际传承问题研究

文章从经济学角度分析指出，现阶段家族企业“子继父业”的代际传承模式是中国家族企业实现权力传承的一种理性行为。在对众多利益相关者进行分析的基础上，提出了完善家族企业产权结构、规范家族企业接班制度等有助于解决代际传承问题的相关建议。     

The impact of family life on work efficiency: a study of employed women from different occupational statuses in a metropolitan area in Turkey

The objective of this research was to investigate the family life of employed women from different occupational statuses (white collar, blue collar and professionals) on their work efficiency. The data were obtained from a survey of 300 randomly selected women who work in various offices, universities and factories in Ankara. The findings suggest that women in better conditions (high education, profession, etc.) experienced less negative spillover.     

The Effect of Family Control on Firm Value and Performance: Evidence from Continental Europe

We investigate the relation between ownership structure and firm performance in Continental Europe, using data from 675 publicly traded corporations in 11 countries. Although family‐controlled corporations exhibit larger separation between control and cash‐flow rights, our results do not support the hypothesis that family control hampers firm performance. Valuation and operating performance are significantly higher in founder‐controlled corporations and in corporations controlled by descendants who sit on the board as non‐executive directors. When a descendant takes the position of CEO, family‐controlled companies are not statistically distinguishable from non‐family firms in terms of valuation and performance.     

云南松母树林基地发展对策研究——白马河林场案例

优良种子是提高林分质量的重要保障,因此,母树林经营在林业可持续发展中起着重要作用。探讨母树林经营在市场经济条件下的出路,已成为十分迫切的问题。文章对白马河林场云南松母林基地的经营现状进行了分析,找出了其中存在的问题,提出了以云南松母树林为核心、多元化发展、制度创新的发展对策。     

工业化、城市化影响下的农地质量变化研究

土地资源面临的压力也越来越大,土地质量问题也日益引起世界各国政府、国际组织和学者的普遍关注,土地质量评价也已经成为当前土地科学研究领域的一个新的热点[1]。该文首先构建了工业化、城市化影响下的农地质量评价指标选择的理论框架,以此为依据确定评价指标体系,并应用综合协调度模型,以江阴市为例进行了实证研究。研究结果表明,压力的增加和土壤肥力因子协调性的降低是综合协调度降低、农地质量退化的动因,但主要是由于压力的增加。     

基于新农村建设的社会治安防控模式探讨——以恩施州“治安中心户”为个案

在当前全面建设社会主义新农村中，如何充实新的治安防控体系成为了一个全新的课题。本文运用人力资本理论、人力资源管理、组织行为学等相关理论对湖北省恩施州“治安中心户”这一防控机制做了深入的调查并在此基础上提出了如何完善这一治安防控模式的理论建议。
