Cooked food hawkers are a sometimes neglected part of the tourism and hospitality industries, yet can play a significant role as a visitor attraction which offers both inexpensive food and insights into the contemporary society and heritage of the destination. Hawking is ubiquitous in much of South East Asia where it is integral to the life of local residents and this includes Singapore, the focus of the paper which also comments on the relationship between food and tourism in general. The cooked food hawker sector in the city state is described and the results of a survey of tourists about their experiences of dining at hawker centres are presented. Responses appear favourable on the whole, but some concerns are identified. It seems that hawkers may have unrealised potential as an amenity for tourists, although widening their appeal and use is a challenging task compounded by the threat to the survival of hawker centres from urban development pressures. 相似文献

This paper studies the impacts on economic growth of a small tourism-driven economy caused by an increase in the growth rate of international tourism demand. We present a formal model and empirical evidence. The ingredients of the dynamic model are a large population of intertemporally optimizing agents and an AK technology representing tourism production. The model shows that an increase in the growth of tourism demand leads to transitional dynamics with gradually increasing economic growth and increasing terms of trade. In our empirical application, an econometric methodology is applied to annual data of Antigua and Barbuda from 1970 to 2008. We perform a cointegration analysis to look for the existence of a long-run relationship among variables of economic growth, international tourism earnings and the real exchange rate. 旅游政策是欠发达地区加快旅游产业发展、调控旅游产业运行的主要手段。虽有不少学者分别从不同角度对旅游政策进行研究,但对于经济欠发达地区的旅游产业政策研究缺乏动态性、针对性和代表性。本文以欠发达、欠开发的贵州省为例,在制度变迁理论的指导下,以旅游地生命周期理论发展阶段为线索,从旅游政策发展演变与旅游地发展演变具有相互影响、相互作用的关系入手,对贵州旅游政策外事接待、经济优先、协调发展演变过程进行分析,在对各阶段政策效用评价的基础上,总结了旅游发展大会、“多彩贵州”形象推广、“两赛一会”模式、乡村旅游和四位一体等成功经验、分析主要存在旅游政策缺乏动态性、持续性、方向性、操作性和灵活性、缺乏监督考核评价机制和旅游业研发政策力度支持较弱等问题,探讨了贵州旅游政策目标、机制体制、市场、产品、空间布局政策体系以及不同生命周期阶段的旅游产业政策实施重点等演变方向与趋势。 相似文献

Lebanon is a complex country of extraordinary promise; often thrust into crisis, including recent military assaults, terrorist attacks and bombings. The authors share findings from a longitudinal field-study of the evolving political and business climate of Lebanon, emphasizing a particular MNC that is thriving amidst social, ideological and political conflicts. A synthesis of primary and secondary data revealed the InterContinental Phoenicia hotel as a model institution in the face of extreme crisis. “体验经济”概念提出后,很快成为全球热点。受其影响,我国旅游学术界和业界也开始了对“旅游体验”的关注。但由于长期受“经济产业”思路的局限,我国的“旅游体验”研究还缺乏系统性和较深层次的思考。旅游作为人类社会的一种精神文化活动,从本质上决定了文化因素是“旅游体验”成败的关键,而文化往往是通过一些符号或物质载体体现出来的,这就涉及到“真实性”的问题。因此。“旅游体验”问题还应结合人类学相关理论从“文化真实”及“主客关系”等方面进行深入分析。“旅游体验”的研究还需把握真实性、社区参与及文化涵化三个重要概念。同时,旅游体验的“虚拟真实性”应作为一个全新的概念被提出和界定。 相似文献

Tourism Management is a research journal and the short title of a book. This article examines the book as a resource for tourism students, tourism researchers and those who use tourism research in decision making. Part I of the book provides a framework for organizing 26 chapters into Parts II to VI. The chapters are research papers, some with exercises that help researchers and users of research understand good decision support by research. Analysis supports the book's value for target markets, particularly in providing good ideas and reference material about using research for decision making. However, Parts II-VI do not have introductions or conclusions. Analysis, drawing on extensive experience of the authors of this article, identifies the usefulness of a revised edition having information in each part about how the chapters fit into the book's framework and their practical significance. Discussion includes having expanded exercises for most chapters. Though suggesting changes to make a new edition better, the study here strongly endorses Tourism Management, the book, for teaching applications and as a resource for researchers and users of research. 相似文献
