This paper introduces new forms, sampling and estimation approaches fordiscrete choice models. The new models include behavioral specifications oflatent class choice models, multinomial probit, hybrid logit, andnon-parametric methods. Recent contributions also include new specializedchoice based sample designs that permit greater efficiency in datacollection. Finally, the paper describes recent developments in the use ofsimulation methods for model estimation. These developments are designed toallow the applications of discrete choice models to a wider variety ofdiscrete choice problems. 相似文献

Firm Financial Performance Following Mergers 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2

This study, using a sample of 162 firms and industry-adjusted cash flow returns on market value of assets as performance criteria, examines the financial performance of the combined target and acquiring firms over a 5-year post-merger period in relation to the corresponding pre-merger period. We find that post-merger performance is negatively associated with relative target size and positively associated with long-term incentive compensation plans. Firms that are in dissimilar industries also show improved performance, as do firms that merged prior to 1983. 相似文献

Meyer (2006) has offered an interesting array of initiatives that scholars in Asia can pursue in enhancing their contribution
to the body of management knowledge. While the objective of his agenda seems timely and relevant, it raises some fundamental
questions that encompass issues such as the scope of research questions that Asian researchers could pursue, the debate over
rigor versus relevance, and the role of established top tier journals in furthering the Asian management research agenda.
This paper discusses some of these issues in the spirit of fostering a continued dialog on the important questions that Meyer
raises.

In this paper we study the comparative performance of Indian manufacturing industries during relatively recent periods of domestic regulation and de-regulation of plant entry. The period of de-regulation is accompanied by largely unchanging levels of import competition and higher output growth. The growth of labour and total factor productivity (TFPG) is observed to be higher during the deregulation period. We use data on 42 three-digit manufacturing industries. Our sample covers consumer, intermediate and capital good industries. We study the relationship between levels of effective protection and total factor productivity growth (TFPG). We found that increasing effective rates of protection was not associated with lower TFPG. We test the hypothesis that higher degree of trade protection induces greater entry of plants. This hypothesis is statistically supported. Our econometric estimates found a positive association between net entry and TFPG, after controlling for inter-industry differences in effective protection, asset size of plants and demand growth. Our results support the proposition that competition positively contributes to TFPG during deregulation. 相似文献
