Backup strategy for robots’ failures in an automotive assembly system

Automotive assembly lines are often characterized by robots’ failures that may result in stoppages of the lines and manual backup of tasks. The phenomena tend to impair throughput rate and products’ quality. This paper presents a backup strategy in which working robots perform tasks of failed robots. The proposed Mixed-Integer Linear-Programming based approach minimizes the throughput loss by utilizing the robots’ redundancy in the system. Two algorithms are developed to comply with stochastic conditions of a real-world environment. The performance of these algorithms is compared with several heuristics, and the downstream-backup based algorithm is found superior to all other methods.

Understanding service attributes of robot hotels: A sentiment analysis of customer online reviews

Robots and artificial intelligence are essential to the future of the hospitality industry, and they are receiving increasing interest from hotel managers and researchers. However, the adoption of robotic services in hotel operations is a challenging task owing to the current level of technology and lack of understanding on the relationship between various aspects of robotic services and customer satisfaction. Moreover, no prior study has examined the service attributes of robots in hotels. To fill these gaps, this study analyzes customers’ sentiments on major hotels employing robotic services expressed through online reviews. A list of robot quality and operational area attributes is first constructed, through which underperforming robot service areas are identified. Sentiments on robotic services have a positive correlation with hotel service satisfaction, which plays an important role in determining the overall satisfaction of customers. The analysis and findings are valuable to researchers and managers for future research and adoption of robotic services in hotels.     

Predictors of consumers’ willingness to share personal information with fashion sales robots

This study investigates whether consumers' self-interests and social interactions predict their willingness to share their personal information with a fashion sales robot. The study develops hypotheses based upon the information sharing theory and tests them by building a decision tree predictive model. Using a video stimulus of a fashion sales robot, we conduct interviews, pretests, and main data collection (n = 464) in the United States. The results indicate that service quality, enjoyment, and usefulness, which reflect self-interest, and trust, which reflects social interaction, predict consumers’ willingness to share personal information with the robots. These results suggest that fashion marketers should focus strategically on service quality and enjoyment when they adopt AI sales robots and use them as a medium to share information in customer service.     

萌芽期颠覆性技术识别研究

从颠覆性技术成长周期入手，根据萌芽期颠覆性技术特点，采用基于创新性、独创性与功能分析的识别方法，在技术创新没有造成市场显著变化时实现预警决策。首先进行技术生命周期分析，随后利用创新性和独创性特点衡量技术颠覆性，排除渐进性技术干扰，最后运用功能分析方法研究技术新功能对未来市场的影响。以工业机器人专利技术领域进行实证，验证了方法的可行性和有效性。     

国产机器人企业研发效率评价及影响因素研究

基于国内机器人行业发展现状，利用超效率DEA与Malmquist指数相结合的评价方法以及Tobit回归模型，对我国机器人行业14家上市企业的研发创新效率及影响因素进行实证研究。结果发现：国产机器人R&D效率呈现上升趋势，技术进步突出，政策效果明显，但还存在较大提升空间；研发投入和资本密集度对R&D效率没有显著影响，企业经营规模和融资能力与R&D效率显著正相关。最后，结合研究结果，从营造创新环境、制定行业标准、整合产业链以及转型招商模式等方面提出了政策建议。

Human baristas and robot baristas: How does brand experience affect brand satisfaction,brand attitude,brand attachment,and brand loyalty?

This study investigates the antecedents and consequences of brand satisfaction with the moderating role of type of barista. For this, data were collected from customers who used a coffee shop operated by robot baristas and customers who used a coffee shop operated by human baristas. The data analysis results showed that the four types of brand experience, such as sensory, affective, behavioral, and intellectual brand experiences, help to enhance brand satisfaction, which positively affects brand attitude, brand attachment, and brand loyalty. Finally, the type of barista plays a moderating role in the relationship between (1) sensory brand experience and brand satisfaction and (2) intellectual brand experience and brand satisfaction.     

全球价值链嵌入对我国本土工业机器人技术进步的影响

无论是美国的制造业复兴计划,还是德国的工业4.0战略以及中国制造2025计划,工业机器人都是其中的重要内容,未来机器人+互联网的数字化生产方式将极大地改变制造业。中国虽然已经连续两年成为全球工业机器人销售的第一大市场,然而,本土工业机器人产业却存在关键零部件制造能力差、品牌知名度与市场占有率低等问题,究其原因,与发达国家跨国公司相比,本土企业还存在很大的技术差距。实证研究表明,本土企业通过零部件出口、为FDI企业配套生产零部件以及进口关键零部件等方式,嵌入跨国公司主导的全球价值链,会产生"嵌入中学习"效应和"干中学"效应,进而对本土企业技术水平提升具有积极的促进作用。
