In this study, we develop and test a model that links one's internal and external social network structures to his or her willingness and ability to adapt in a changing work context. Using a survey data from 371 employees working in 133 different branches of a large financial firm, we find that individual behaviors that explain task performance and individual adaptation to change are affected by a number of supportive social ties (size of the support network) with which one receives support inside and, mostly, outside the workplace. The results also show that individual performance and adaptation to change are affected by the level of workers' organizational citizenship behavior. We also identify a mediating effect exerted by the informational network structure (mostly an internal network) on the relationship between the support network (mostly an external network) and individual task performance. 相似文献

The current study provides a model that aims to explain the origin of the competitive advantage of organizations in terms of the ownership structure. We have also studied the interactions between IT use and ownership structure. To reach these objectives, we have classified the organizations in two groups using the cooperative character criterion. The results show that cooperative firms achieve a superior competitive advantage regardless of the amount of IT that the firms use. The study is focused on the Spanish Pharmaceutical Distribution Industry. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to contribute further insights into individuals’ agri-environmental attitudes. In particular,
the empirical analysis focuses on how citizens think agri-environmental property rights should be assigned. This has been
done by surveying how individuals consider the environmental policy should promote the implementation of a group of agri-environmental
measures, allowing us to examine the determinants of individuals’ opinions about this matter. Results indicate that higher
level of income and education support the implementation of obligatory agri-environmental measures with no financial support
(property rights should rest on society) except for measures to improve public access to land for leisure activities and ecological
farming which are seen more of the voluntary kind (property rights should rest on farmers). Additionally, rural residency
has strong significant effect on agri-environmental attitudes as rural residents are more likely to support the implementation
of voluntary (with/without financial support) agri-environmental measures. On the whole, this research proves to be a valuable
tool to identify factors determining individuals’ attitudes towards agri-environmental property rights which can certainly
help policymakers to provide customized, better response to social demands on this matter. 相似文献

In this paper, we hypothesize that producer cooperatives are more efficient than private firms, even when the impact of the political and economic environment is controlled for, and irrespective of the orientation with which efficiency is assessed; that is, whether firms target the reduction of inputs or the expansion of outputs. The empirical application focuses on a longitudinal population of olive oil manufacturing firms operating in the south of Spain from 1944 to 1998. The analyses clearly show that producer cooperatives are more efficient than private firms. 相似文献

ABSTRACT In this paper, we propose that the ownership structure in the cooperative form acts as an environmental buffer. It is a mechanism to obtain stronger linkages with suppliers by internalizing them, and in this way, obtaining fundamental resources. Using this strategy, the cooperative form can isolate itself from adverse environments and from competition from other organizational forms. Although cooperatives have higher survival probability in any economic context, in rival ideological environments they have less support than other organizational forms. To test these ideas, we have chosen data from the Spanish olive oil milling industry for 1944–98. During this period, Spain changed from a dictatorial to a democratic regime and from a self‐subsistence economy in the post civil‐war period to a broad liberal international economy. The results show that, whereas other organizational forms are affected by economic and ideological influences, the cooperative form isolates itself by changing the competition level. 相似文献
