The present research attempts to qualitatively explore the motivators and barriers of organic food consumption in the Indian context. The data were collected using semistructured in‐depth interviews and analyzed using grounded theory. The theoretical sampling technique was used to interview 34 consumers who have purchased organic food in the past. The findings reported health consciousness, environmental consciousness, social identity, consumer ethnocentrism, and concern for farmers as the factors that motivate organic food purchase among consumers. The factors such as high prices of organic food, unavailability, trust issues, and limited marketing communications from the firms were identified as major barriers to organic food purchase and consumption. The study is one of the initial attempts to qualitatively explore the consumers' motivation for organic food consumption in the Indian context. The findings will help policymakers to devise suitable strategies so that they can effectively target the organic food choices by understanding the motivators/barriers, and promote the sustainable lifestyle in the society, as food consumption plays a crucial role in achieving environmental sustainability.  相似文献

Using a stylized oligopoly model, we analyze the effect of cartel deterring fines, taking into consideration exemptions granted to cartel members cooperating with the competition authorities. This study proposes that the performance of mutual fund managers is linked to how efficiently they allocate attention across assets in their investment set. Motivated by existing models of optimal portfolio choice and rational inattention, we posit that the efficiency of attention allocation increases when a manager chooses larger (smaller) active positions in assets that need more (less) information acquisition effort to resolve uncertainty about future payoffs. We show that the efficiency of attention allocation has a significantly positive impact on future fund performance. Efficient attention allocation has a lesser impact on performance as the total demands on a manager's limited attention increase.  相似文献

This study finds that the scaling properties of India’s nominal and real Treasury rates are time varying, as is their multiscaling behaviour. We observe an association between the scaling behaviour of interest rates and the stages of development of the bill market. Interest rate behaviour is influenced by structural reforms, microstructure changes, and improvement in the operational efficiency of the Treasury market. Our findings suggest that monetary policy shocks have a persistent effect, but rates eventually revert to the mean. We show that the adaptive market hypothesis helps to delineate the dynamics of an emerging market undergoing a series of institutional and structural changes.  相似文献

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play a significant role in the growth of the economy. Many SMEs have set up activities beyond their home markets, and their role is more important in contributing to future growth. They are confronted with international competition and forced to compete in international markets. In this study, authors have categorized obstacles to firm internalization as internal and external barriers. The three dimensions of external barriers include governmental and economic political/legal barriers, procedural, and currency barriers, and task and socio-cultural barriers. The internal barriers considered for the purpose of the study were informational barrier, managerial barriers, financial barriers, and marketing barriers. Authors have used adapted scale from previous researches in these domains. Database accumulated the SMEs that were involved in manufacturing activities in the state of Rajasthan, India. The measurement model is a confirmatory factor analysis. The measures used within this study were within the acceptable levels supporting the reliability of the constructs. The analysis of the data revealed that there was moderate correlation between the external and internal factors. Within the external factors, procedural and currency barriers showed the highest obstacle for SMEs in their pursuit for internationalization followed by task and socio-cultural factors. Results specified that the entrepreneurs were not able to handle and manage foreign exchange fluctuations due to their lack of knowledge in this field.  相似文献
