The objective of this study is to investigate unpacked and packed fluid milk consumption patterns and preferences among Turkish households by using cross‐sectional survey data from 18,278 households. Based on the data, 47.8% of the households consume unpacked milk, 29.3% consume sterilized milk, and 7.9% consume pasteurized fluid milk at least once a month. Results of the multinomial logit model for fluid milk consumption behavior suggest that unpacked fluid milk preference is related positively to household size, income and age of the household head, and negatively to education level of the household head and status of the household wife. Similarly, pasteurized and sterilized fluid milk preferences are related positively to income and the education level of the household head, and negatively to household size and age of the household head. Results from these analyses are used to suggest techniques for marketing fluid milk products to specific segments of the consumer population. 相似文献

Household cigarette demand in Turkey is examined using the zero-inflated negative binomial model to account for a large portion
of households not reporting cigarette smoking or purchase and estimated using the data from the national household survey
implemented in 2003. Data were divided into two main groups: families with and without teenagers. Results identify relevant
household head and household characteristics needed to develop effective public policy to prevent the decision to begin to
smoke and to reduce cigarette purchase to lower the future growth of government healthcare expenditures. Specifically, healthcare
expenditure share, income, and cigarette-price elasticities are relevant in lowering cigarette purchases. The calculated price
elasticities for cigarette demand falls within the range determined by studies conducted for developed countries including
the member states of the European Union. An estimate of the effect of an increase in the excise tax lowering demand is provided. 相似文献

We reply to the Comment by Drichoutis et al. regarding somemethodological and estimation issues arising from our paper. In particular, we compare the elasticities reported in the originalpaper with those obtained using estimation procedures suggestedby Drichoutis et al. We find that the differences are very small. 相似文献

This paper analyses Turkish household food consumption, usingdata from the 2003 Turkish Household Expenditure Survey. A completedemand system is estimated taking into account demographic differencesand zero consumption. The highest expenditure elasticity isfound for the meat and meat products group, suggesting thatits demand will grow faster than the demand for other productsas the economy develops and income increases. Demand is moreprice-responsive for fats and oils and non-alcoholic beveragesthan all other food products. Regional and seasonal differencesand socio-demographic factors are as important as the conventionaleconomic variables in explaining observed differences in thehousehold's food consumption patterns in Turkey. 相似文献

Although consumers’ fluid milk consumption behavior related to skim milk, low fat milk and whole milk have attracted a lot
of attention in the last decade, relatively a few studies have examined the consumers’ unprocessed and processed fluid milk
consumption. The objective of this study was to analyze consumers’ fluid milk consumption and preference in Turkey by using
cross-sectional national survey data. The Chi-square test of independence and multinomial logit procedure were used to investigate
the selected socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of consumers that determine households’ fluid milk consumption
choices between unprocessed fluid milk, processed fluid milk and non-consumption choices. Empirical results indicate that
unprocessed fluid milk preference is related positively to household size, number of children in family, household income,
and age of housewife; and negatively to education level and employment status of housewife. On the other hand, processed fluid
milk preferences are related positively to household income, number of children in households and education level of housewife
and negatively to household size and age of housewife. 相似文献

Wheat is a very strategic crop for Turkey as well as many other countries. Sunn pest is one of the most important pests of
cereals particularly for wheat and barley in Turkey. Turkish governments have conducted sunn pest management (SPM) program,
mainly based on chemical control since 1927. Neither farmers nor technical consultants have been satisfied with the SPM program
conducted by the government. Therefore, the government purpose is to transfer SPM program to the farmers by providing technical
information and equipments gradually. In this paper, effect of sunn pest damage on wheat price in Turkey is analyzed by using
hedonic price function. The results show that sunn pest damage is the most effective factor and causes a significant decrease
in wheat prices. 相似文献

This article investigates households’ cooking oil and fat consumption patterns in Turkey using data from household budget
surveys. The almost ideal demand system was employed to analyze demand parameters and elasticities for major five types of
oil. Prices were adjusted for quality and the demographic translation method was used to incorporate to demographic variables.
Finally, the two stage generalized demand model was used to take into account censory of the dependent variable. Results showed
that higher-income and higher-educated consumers consume more quality and healthy oil such as olive oil than lower-income
and less educated consumers. According to income elasticities, lower-income consumers are more sensitive to income changes
compare to higher-income consumers. Moreover, lower-income consumers are more prices sensitive to olive oil and corn oil than
are higher-income consumers. 相似文献

People in developing countries are increasing their consumption from the very low levels of the past, and they have a long way to go before coming near developed country averages. In this study, households’ animal products consumption patterns are analysed by using Linear Approximation of Almost Ideal Demand System (LA/AIDS) and survey data collected from households in urban areas in Turkey. According to the results of the study, annual per capita consumption of animal products were 48.18?kg for milk, 26.89?kg for yogurt, 18.55?kg for cheese, 6.45?kg for meat, 22.11?kg for poultry and 10.05?kg for fish. Price elasticities were found to be lower than 1 for milk, yogurt, cheese, poultry and fish and higher than 1 for meat. Moreover, the impacts of socio-demographic factors on the demand for animal products were found to be very low. Determination of production targets and formulation of polices are possible by obtaining the proper information related to the livestock products. 相似文献
