On Reform of International Financial System and Restructure of Bretton Woods Institutions

This paper reviews the reform path of international financial system since the collapse of Bretton Woods System and elaborates the defects of current system. It analyses the debates and different views on the issues on the reform agenda and holds that it would be rather difficult to make a breakthrough in the reform of core issues in a short period of time, because there is a huge gap of interests between developed and developing countries. However, there are possibilities to make further progress in issues raised on agenda. G20's pushing forward of reform of Bretton Woods Institutions is encouraging news. China is bound to make an increasing contribution in promoting the reform of international financial system.
