FOCUS ON THE COAL INDUSTRY |
| |
Abstract: | ![]() The aftermath of the miners' strike has left the British coal industry in a state of suspended animation, restricted by nationalisation and unclear about its future. Peter Host, MP far the Derbyshire constituency of Erewash, argues that only privatisation of the coalfields will allow the industry to prosper, Mark Pargeter, of the University of Keele, argues the political motivation which encouraged the Government to prolong a strike they could easily have brough to an end much earlier. |
