Abstract: | Driven by tidal current, tidal current generator is a power generation device which converts the kinetic energy contained in the current into electric energy that can be directly used by human being. This paper presents a start-up control method for a fixed pitch horizontal axis tidal current power unit, i.e. transits the unit from the static standby state to the generating state and the maximum power stage. First, start up the unit and accelerate it to a certain speed. Then switch to the torque mode for maximum power tracking control, and adjust the starting speed according to the current velocity to prevent the failure of the maximum power tracking. The simulation results show that the proposed method is effective and can adapt to the start-up environment with different tidal current velocity. |
