The Change of Ideas and the Choice of Value in the New Historical Study of Revolu tion: A Review of Wang Qisheng's Revolution and Counter-revolution

After the Revolution of 1911, China went through the vicissitudes of revolutionary turmoils. Professor Wang Qisheng＇s new book, Revolution and Counter-revolution, tries to trace and depict the historical development that lies behind the constant change of the key ideologies and cultural concepts. This essay tries to comment on the new historical perspective and the major points in the book, in particular the discussion with regard to revolutionary justice and morality, in order to get some insights into the author＇s political and cultural conception of revolution.
