Japan's New Conceptions and New Measures in Promoting the Development of Small and Mid - sized Businesses

Abstract:In the hope that small and mid-size businesses will be able to play a major part in therejuvenation of the country's economy which has been troubled with many long-term difficul-ties, Japan in the recent years has redefined small and mid-size businesses' function and role inits economy as a whole. In the meantime, the Japanese government also changed from its formerpolicy which supported small and mid-size businesses as the weak and inferior over to that whichis focused on encouraging the businesses to actively engage in innovaion, investment in innovationand technological development. However, whether these new measures will work or not still re-mains to be proved in time.
