Purchasing Management Strategies under a Supply Chain Environment

Aiming at a win win result, purchasers and suppliers in supply chains are getting more cooperative with each other. Under a supply chain environment, purchasing activities are usually driven by orders and the focus of purchasing management has been diverted to external resources. The supply chain environment also promotes the value added during purchasing processes and the great change in in- ventory management. In this connection, purchasing management strategies might be set up by identifying key forces such as price, build- ing a strategic partnership between purchasers and suppliers, and by sophisticated inventory management. By doing so, a win win result could be achieved with an improvement of enterprise competitiveness and a decrease of total cost for both purchasers and suppliers.
