The construction of the social security system during the 12th 5-year period: coexistence of opportunities and challenges

Tremendous progress was made for the construction of the social security system during the 11th 5-year period,but we should be fully aware that China′s social security system is far from being perfect.In particular,the economic situation and economic structure will experience significant changes during the 12th 5-year period,which will create prime opportunities for faster pace of development of the social security undertaking while posing some new challenges.The measures for constructing the social security system during the next 5-year period includes: establishing relevant policies to fill the current vacancy;broadening the scope of coverage;lifting the level of coverage;coordinating the urban and rural social security systems;and strengthening the basic public service system.
