This paper review the course of the romanization of geographical names in China, according to its basic theory and principle, on the basis of actual materials from investigation, to analyze the absurd spellings on the romanization of geographical names over the nameplates of trunk roads and the placenanme plates of cloverleaf junctions in Beijing at the present time, discuss the background of spelling confusions and the correct measures that must be taken at currently.
