| Abstract: | This paper has reviewed the history of traditional translation theory in China, and analyzed the theoretical contribution made by the great translators in the different periods. It concludes that the translation principle of ＂faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance＂ is the most comprehensive summarization of translation theory in China, and these three words are the essence of Chinese translation theory. |
