| Abstract: | The London gold market is not just a geographic concept.It mainly refers to a global trading network connected by electronic trading systems such as telephones or Reuters wire agency,and its functions are to provide worldwide gold and silver benchmark prices as well as clearing services.This paper comprehensively reviews its operation and supervision in view of the history of the London gold market, its trading and clearing mechanisms,membership management,trading products,the role of the Bank of England in the market,and the supervision model of the gold market. |
