Basic content and features of the codes of conduct by international oil companies are described.The codes of conduct of Westernized international oil companies are designed to promote honesty,fairness,conscientiousness,mutual respect and trust in the work environment;the codes are highly feasible as they highlight reciprocity between enterprise and individual.Chinese oil enterprises are advised to investigate the existing codes of conduct by international oil companies and improve their own codes on the basis of that existing framework.They should reinforce self-regulation of operational outcomes from the codes,and take account of their own features in finding their way to establishing professional ethics.
