An Analysis of Marx's Theory of Organic Composition of Capital According to the Law of Diminishing Marginal Rate of Technical Substitution

The concept of organic composition of capital is a theoretical innovation of Marx to analyse the historical trends of capital accumulation. And it assumess a normative sense of value judgment in terms of the movements of the different factors of capita/, lacking of the necessary empirical analysis of related factors. Apart from the system attributes, the law of diminishing marginal rate of technical substitution and Marx＇s theory of organic composition of capital have the same logical starting point and analytical trajectories, both focusing on the relationship between the trends of the two elements and profit maximization in the long- term economic growth. The thesis will tentatively analyse Marx~ theory of organic composition of capital with the help of such analytical tools as the isocost line of western economics, aiming to achieve a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of Marx＇s theory of capital accumulation.
