A Comparative Analysis of the Verb Mode from Two English-Chinese Dictionary with Chinese Translation

朗文英汉双解词典(1992年版)和牛津现代英汉双解词典(2005年版)是两部极具代表性的英汉双解词典,也是对我国英语学习者影响最大的双解词典之一。起源于为学生提供简易句法入门指导的动词结构模式研究,现已成为近年来词典编纂学家和语言学家的研究重心。动词结构模式研究既为词典使用者提供更清晰的检索,更简易的理解,又为教师语法教学提供有力参考。本文从动词模式的4个主要方面对比分析这两本词典,以期进一步理解和探讨最有效词典动词结构模式的编排,并充分发挥这两部词典的功用。

A Comparative Analysis of the Verb Mode from Two English - Chinese Dictionary with Chinese Translation

Longman Dictionary of American English(1992 edition) and Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary of Current English with Chinese Translation(2005 edition) are the two representative English-Chinese Dictionary with Chinese translation and one of the dictionaries that have greatest influence on Chinese English learners.The verb structure mode that provides easy syntactic elementary guidance for students has become the research focus of dictionary compilation experts and linguists in recent years.The study of verb structure mode provides dictionary users with clearer searching and easier understanding.What’s more,it provides teacher’s grammar teaching with strong reference.From four main aspects of verb mode,this paper compares and analyzes these two dictionary in expectation to further comprehend and discuss the arrangement of verb structure mode in the most effective dictionary and play the functions of these two dictionary fully.
