A cultural contrastive study on both English and Chinese euphemistic expressions of death

The euphemistic expression of death is a common phenomenon in human language. In both English and Chinese exist many euphemistic expressions of death which are ont only language phenomena but also have profound cultural connotations. The author makes a contrastive study on English and Chinese euphemistic expressions of death from three cultural aspects： material culture, institutional culture and mental culture, and reveals their similarities and differences to promoting the communication of English and Chinese cultures.
