On Thinking Aloud Protocols in Translation Study

As one of the recently developed empirical approach, thinking aloud protocols is generally recognized and utilized in translation study. By reviewing its development over the past twenty years, the present paper points out its methodological limitations despite its marginal success in some areas. The paper concludes by offering some suggestions for the future development of TAPs in the study of translation process.
