Is Nestle on a Shopping Spree?
Abstract:After five long months,Nestle Greater China President Roland Decorvet can finally breathe a sigh of relief. On December 7th 2011,the Ministry of Commerce finally approved Nestle’s acquisition of 60%stake in the Singapore-listed Hsu Fu Chi International for USD$1.7 billion.This is the second acquisition that Decorvet has overseen since he took the reins of Nestle’s China operations back in March.In just a year,Nestle has acquired two Chinese companies,Yinlu Foods Group and Hsu Fu Chi.The main motivating factor behind these acquisitions is Decorvet’s plan to make coffee,dairy products,wafers and confectionary, as well as beverages and condiments one of the five main pillars to support Nestle’s future development in China.
