Abstract: | The UK's fish farming industry, though not yet making a significant contribution to the national food supply, appears to be developing towards an annual production level of about 20 000 tonnes by the mid 1980s. The author discusses the prospects and constraints for the different farmed species, legal and organizational problems, the market, and research and development activities. The role of the industry in creating new wealth and widening consumer choice is stressed. |
