Analysis of the Dynamic Innovation Cycles and the Adaptability of the Academic Institutions of Japan

An efficient innovation mechanism and successful technology transfer from academia to industry play a vitally important part in gaining international competitive advantage for any country. With the purpose of creating and optimizing a dynamic technological innovation cycle which is needed for continuous economic growth, the Japanese government has attempted to integrate the accumulated social knowledge resources so as to provide systematic support for the building of a domestic industry-university liaison that is in process. Under the national innovation system of Japan, universities and public research institutions have to actively adapt to the ever-changing external environment resulted from the structural reform in the education and research systems.
