On the Lasting Competitive Advantages of Local Group of Companies in the Global Value Chain

xScholars generally agree that the key for local group of companies to participate in global competition is to continuously climb the global value chain, but no research has been done to shed light on how local group of companies can do so. This paper studies the local group of companies in the global value chain. Heterogeneous competence is the basis for local group of companies to get an edge in the global competition while dynamic ability is the source for them to acquire lasting competitive edge. Group learning is the path to the acquisition of competitive advantage in the world value chain. Finally from the perspective of group learning, the paper suggests a strategy for local businesses to develop in the global value chain.
