A Robust Optimum Beamforming Algorithm for Coherent Signals

This paper proposes a new optimum beamforming algorithm in the presence of coherent signals. The idea and the procedure of the scheme are as follows. First, the second - order statistics of the received data are used to estimate the effective direction matrix. Then an approach is given, by which the synthetic direction vector corresponding to the expected signal is evaluated. Finally, the optimum weights are derived in the sense of maximization of SNR. Simulation results show the proposed method is computationally efficient and robust.
