| 摘 要： | 英语中的委婉表达不仅复杂,而且不断发展。从交际功能看,委婉语可分为避凶求吉类,避俗求雅类,避短扬长类和伪装粉饰类。了解和掌握并正确地运用委婉语,能说话得体,避免冒犯目标语的禁忌,以达到交际的最佳效果。

A Brief Discussion of Euphemisms in English and its Latest Development |

| Abstract: | The expressions of euphemisms in English are not only complicated,but also develops gradually.In terms of communicative functions,euphemisms in English roughly fall into the following four categories: the category of avoiding evil to seek good luck;the category of avoiding vulgarity to pursue elegance;the category of circumventing weaknesses to stress strengths and the category of disguising.In cross-cultural communication,it is of vital importance for learners to understand and master these euphemistic expressions in order to use them appropriately. |
