经济增长理论是社会经济发展的一种理论反映,源于斯密和李嘉图为代表的古典经济学派,是二战后在发达国家广泛流行的经济理论,大体经历了三个发展阶段,但是发达国家经济学家自身存在的认识论缺陷使其不可能科学完整地建立经济增长理论及模型,更不可能明确政府在经济增长的定位及经济管调方式并指导中国社会经济建设实践,特别是经济增长方式转变的实践。经济增长需要政府进行宏观经济管理与调控,通过价格杠杆和竞争机制的功能,鞭策市场微观经济主体把资源配置到效益较好的环节,促进生产和需求的及时协调,推动社会的经济发展与技术进步,提高资源的利用效率
