Zhu Qianzhi's "Suicide" in Relation to His Philosophical Development

Zhu Qianzhi＇s autobiographical account is a wealth of personal feelings and personal choices in his time in history, which has offered unique interpretations of such modern topics as evolution, revolution, and so on. Based on his autobiographical account, this paper analyzes the different angles and strategies he adopted in self-examination in different historical periods. Such an analysis will enable us to put in perspective the characteristic way modern intellectuals settle their selves and the various modes of interaction between history and individual life.
