Thinking of the Sustainable Development for Resource-dependent Cities

Resource-exhausted cities are at a particular stage during the life cycle of resource-dependent cities.These cities have made great contributions to the country＇s economic development.In recent years,accompanied by the development of economy,the decline of recoverable resources,and the increase of difficulties in resource exploitation,a series of economic,environmental,ecological and social problems have stem from the resource exhaustion.This paper hereby analyzed the profile of resource-exhausted cities in China,and categorized them into three stages： development,alertness and crisis.Based on the analysis of resource-exhausted cities＇ evolution and problems,and the successful experience from foreign countries combined with China＇s own characteristics,we put forward the basic principles of sustainable development for resource-dependent cities in China.
