The effectiveness of postcrisis inflation tarueting svstem

Since the 90s of the 20th century, the inflation targeting system has gradually become an option of the mainstream monetary policy framework in the world. However, after the outbreak of the global financial crisis, the drastic changes of the international economic and financial environments give rise to challenges to the inflation targeting system, whether it is already outdated has become a hot topic worldwide in current research of monetary policy framework. Taking the United Kingdom as an example, the article reveals the constraint of the inflation targeting system in practice since the crisis, elaborates the reasons for improving the inflation targeting system rather than abandoning it, and discusses its future adjustment direction and the challenges the central banks will face.
